“Disappointing.”
Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

My friend and I booked this restaurant as a belated birthday meal. Unfortunately the meal was a little bit of a let down. This restaurant and hotel is really more suited as a wedding venue only rather than a stand alone restaurant. We were the only couple in the restaurant for the most part of the meal and although we are more than capable of entertaining ourselves, the complete lack of any other human being apart from the waitress did mean it completely lacked any atmosphere at all. That and the lighting level being more suited to a care home canteen than a restaurant. A little less harsh light would make a difference. The food was well cooked and nicely presented. We were a little underwhelmed by the scallops as I've rarely come across such small scallops! Three very, very small morsels indeed. The fact that it is a starter is understood and appreciated however this was taking it a little far I'm afraid. We both chuckled through the 90 seconds it took to clear the plate of this particular offering. The main of duck was lovely however and perfectly prepared and presented.
Overall, I wouldn't return in a hurry as there are many more superior establishments in the area.

we have stayed in the hotel several times when we are visiting friends in worfield. Ideal location to visit the pretty town of bridgnorth. Hotel staff cant do enough for you, on one of our visits we did have a problem with the noise of the pipes from the central heating banging throughout the night, next morning when we mentioned this they offered us complimentary breakfast. Very nice comfortable bedrooms, lovely location and the food in the restaurant is wonderful.

Rooms excellent and staff / owners very helpful, even gave us a a lift to another venue when we couldn't get a taxi in time. Restraint was good and the breakfasts are 2nd to none. Will stay again.

Thank you once again for the lift.

A lovely pleasant stay in a very friendly hotel. The staff are very helpful and the room was very warm, cosy and quaint, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. We would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends.

Have just returned from our wedding at The Old Vicarage Hotel at Worfield.
We had a wonderful day,it was a Civil marriage ceremony, with a Reception afterwards.
If you are looking for a smaller venue with character and class this is the place for you.
The setting is lovely with open fields to the rear of the Hotel and the lovely village as you drive up.
The Hotel has a very authentic Victorian feel to it with lots of original old furniture.
The Orangery to the side of the hotel is perfect for the Civil Ceremony and reception, with beautiful views of the countryside.
The food was excellent and the attention to detail of how we wanted the tables set out was faultless.
My compliments go to Daniel and Sarah who made sure our day was really wonderful and all the rest of the staff, everyone was so friendly!
The breakfasts were the best I've ever had!!!

We chose this hotel because it was close to the Telford International Centre and we were going to an event there. The hotel offered a really good deal for bed and breakfast.
Despite arriving mid evening (we did phone ahead to warn them) we were met with a warm welcome and an amazing room, separate from the main building.
The service and food in the restaurant was excellent.
Our room was a little chilly on arrival (it was January!) but the manager quickly sorted this by bringing an extra heater to us.
The room was clean, comfy, the spa bath a nice surprise, and all very quiet and relaxing.
We will definitely return to this lovely family run hotel.

This small privately owned hotel, which had been recommended to us by a friend, is set in its own grounds with far reaching views across the Shropshire countryside. The reception room, with a small bar, is very homely and the Orangery which serves as the dining area a modern addition. There is also a small room of the Orangery which could serve as private dining. The outside terrace must come into its own during the warmer summer months.

There are 10 rooms in the main building and 4 in the Coach House - where we stayed. This is literally a hop, skip and a jump from the main house and umbrellas are provided to shield against the elements. Two of our party had the ground floor room which was very large and spacious with a separate living room. Our room directly above (no living room) was also very large with a huge jacuzzi bath - could almost swim in it!

We had tea and fruit cake on arrival in the lounge and also took pre dinner drinks here. The wine list, although compact, is very reasonably priced. The food was excellent - several game dishes which given the location in rural Shropshire is probably not surprising. Presentation and service was superb. We had a very long chat with the owner, both at dinner and over breakfast, and she is a total delight.

I can see why the hotel is so popular with weddings but would also make a good vanue for family celebrations and reunions.

Will certainly come back in the summer for a Sunday lunch and hopefully, at some stage, a further stay.

Room Tip: Ground floor room in coach house and room above were large, airy and spacious
