“Stunning...didn't want to leave!”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

My boyfriend chose this place as a surprise for me as i've always wanted to climb Snowdon. All i can say is wow.....i never knew that Wales could look like this, the views from here are just amazing, i couldn't stop gazing up at the mountains from our room!

We stayed in the Wnion room which was lovely and big, had it's own entrance and was absolutely spotless, dont think i've ever seen a cleaner bathroom! The bed was very comfy, there was plenty of room for our clothes and the biscuits were replenished each day which is always a bonus :)

Lorraine and Alex were great, very friendly, cooked delicious food and suggested a different route home which took us through a fantastic mountain range which we appreciated very much.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning when we can come back which i hope is very soon.

Thank you so much.

I persuaded my wife who has never had any adventure in her life to have one by walking along with me in snowdonia,Wanted to book somewhere special, I can say with 100% confidence that we made the right choice booking our stay at Dolffanog Fawr.

We had no clue OR have a set plan on what we were going to do OR where we are going to eat, Lorraine was fantastic in helping us every step of the way and took care of us like family, always happy to answer our silly questions and cater to our last minute request with a big smile.

We started of our stay being very silly and over enthusiastic by walking in the rain for a an hour or getting all our kit wet, Lorraine helped us out by drying them out and getting it prepared for our next day.

Like a child, all I had was no plan apart from a simple thought that I wanted to climb Cadair Idris and Snowdon with a wife who has never done such a thing in a her life, Lorraine and Alex were kind enough to explain the route we would have to take where to park including providing the right amount of change for the parking and a simple map which is easy to understand and effective to navigate and ease all the worries my wife had and packed lunch for the long day ahead.

Its one of those things in life which is too good to be true but it is true.

We had a fantastic experience, one we would cherish for the rest of our life thanks to Alex and Lorraine.

Throughly recommend this gem of place.

My wife and i have just had a weekend here which was a surprise weekend away organised by our daughter and son to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, so we had no idea what to expect as we were arriving 'blind' . The hotel is situated in a stunning part of the Welsh countryside and within easy reach of the coast. If Carlsberg did hosts then it would be Alex and Lorraine. The room was immaculate and the food was excellent. Flyn our dog was also made most welcome and enjoyed his treats that were in the room for him on arrival. It is a little remote (nearest pub is approx 4 miles) but that is great as you could here a pin drop at night, but Alex has a very good wine list and bottled local beers. A little gem, book now.

We stayed 3 nights in Wnion. Lovely clean room, with great views. Enjoyed the communal dining - met some really nice people and had interesting conversations. Food was very good and hosts very helpful. Perfect place for exploring a lovely area.

The b&b is situated in a beautiful setting, with the garden looking over gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and lake. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and even some little bonios for our dog which was a lovely touch. The room was very comfortable, decorated really well and had a lovely window seat to sit and enjoy the view. It has a little tea set with a range of teas and hot chocolate which was a nice touch. Thank you to Alex and Lorraine for a lovely stay and a wonderful breakfast. We particularly enjoyed the Precipice walk which they recommended.

My girlfriend, dog and I were looking for a lovely quiet spot to spend a couple of days and do a few walks and this is exactly what we got. The room was lovely and we loved the small touches like the doggy treats. Breakfast was excellent as were the hosts. The lake is a stones throw away and the precipice walk is well worth doing. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Perfect hospitality, accommodation was of a high standard, lovely food, brilliant wine list, perfect location for Cadair Idris, yet quieter than most of the national park. Hot tub a bonus. We loved it and will return as soon as we can. Thanks Lorraine, Alex and Morgan.
