“In love with Babington !”
Reviewed 13 November 2012

We have stayed at Babington a few times now and the last time we stayed we were uncertain that we would return again as it just did not have the same feel to it..... But this time was amazing!!
Reception were really friendly from the moment we arrived, we were informed of the refurb that had taken place so had a look around on arrival!!
Everywhere looked great and there was a good atmosphere.
Very aware of all the staff working hard there, The guy who I think is restaurant manager always seems to be working hard to make everything work well.
Our room was perfect ( and the one we had requested ) So Thank you to them!
The bar has a brilliant atmosphere that makes you just want to sit there all day.
Not sure how anyone can say anything bad about the food, we think the menu is great and reasonably priced! The roast is amazing, everything we ate was and the best thing is afternoon tea that is spread out on the deli bar!!
Cannot fault a single thing, management are doing a great job! Look forward to returning soon.
One thing I would say is that breakfast is overpriced but have found this the same at other soho house establishments.

We went to Babington House to celebrate a birthday and were expecting something very special after everything we had read about it. The initial room we were shown was on 2 levels which looked lovely but the bathroom was downstairs and bedroom upstairs which may have been a problem getting up in the night as the staircase seemed quite rickety and noisy. We upgraded to a room with a private jacuzzi which was gorgeous and made our stay special. It wouldn't have felt like that if we were in the room that we were originally offered. The weather was also very warm which meant we were able to eat breakfast and lunch outside which again was a major bonus. There is very little to do inside so I think we may have gone a bit stir crazy if it had been raining. The restaurant was very good and the bar lively enough to create anatmosphere. We used the bikes to explore the area which was beautiful. The downside to our experience was the Spa which was really disappointing. Both the steam room and sauna were very small and the steam room was barely warm and smelt horrible. Whilst talking to members they said it had been like that for ages and nothing had been done about it. I also attended a yoga class which was a very packed class in a very small claustrophobic room which wasn't brilliant. The other negative that we experienced was in the attitude of one of the people on reception when we first arrived. Most of the staff were absolutely lovely but it only takes one person to give a negative spin and this female definitely did. It was as though she was dong us a favour allowing us to stay there. We were expecting something like Cowley Manor but it didn't come close.

We have been to Babington House many times now, as a couple and as a family. We absolutely love it. The minute you arrive, you can relax!
There is a wonderful and really chilled atmosphere. The rooms, the food, the Spa, the grounds....everything is just absolutely beautiful.
We will always come back. It is just really difficult to book a room, especially the family rooms so you have to be quite organised and book plan ahead!

Room Tip: We love the family rooms and the rooms by the Spa!

We stayed here for a 30th birthday treat and had a fantastic time. From arrival, the service from the staff was second to none - always attentive and helpful. The room was in the main house overlooking the chapel and lake and was absolutely stunning - especially liked the log fire
on a cold November evening in the room. The pools and cowshed were amazing - we managed to have the outdoor pool to ourselves and swimming in the dark in the surroundings of the house topped off a great trip.

Food is great, we would certainly recommend the chicken liver starter. The restaurant staff were knowledgeable and again extremely helpful. Would certainly recommend this place to anyone and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: loved the rooms in the main house!

I've been coming here for many years and one of the things I really like is that they keep investing in improving the property and continue their excellent staff training and recruitment. The orangery restaurant is no longer new but it is a really stunning addition to the proper t y. Properly done to chime in with the original architecture. Beautifully lit it provides a romantic setting for dinner and a garden view for breakfast and lunch. The food here is good but the real attraction lies in the hotel overall . The rooms are generous in size and always welcoming. The tvs are larger than before and even though the have introduced a minibar and tea-making facility (one of my pet hates) you still feel catered for. The breakfast and the afternoon tea are delightful and the cocktails worthy of the name. Babington is also a health club for the locals and at weekends it can be too busy but if you can come in a Sunday and stay a couple of nights, it's terrific. We arrived yesterday to a sprinkling of snow over the lovely lawns.
Treatments in the cowshed are better than at their treatment rooms in London and the little sitting room in the cowshed is a place I could easily spend many hours with its beautiful view and log burner. The ginger tea is amazing. We shall be back a couple of times a year as ever and very grateful to come.
Still a young atmosphere with more than a touch if luxury .

Room Tip: The first floor rooms in the main house are slightly more expensive but worth it. Room five with the...

We stayed at Babington for 3 nights in October after our wedding and had a fantastic time. The room was lovely and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Sometimes the service was a bit slow, but we were there to relax so it didn't really matter. The pools and Cowshed are amazing, we had some great treatments. Food and drinks aren't expensive and everything we ordered was really tasty. All in all, it was worth every penny and we didn't want to leave!

After several recommendations, I took my mum away for some pampering, and was not let down. The setting was perfect, the rooms and interior perfectly done and the staff excellent. Really made to feel welcome in such a relaxed atmosphere, a visit to the cowshed spa is a must!
