Although all bar and serving staff were all on the young side they were very helpful and friendly,
Did get off to a shaky start when the soups arrived a bit luke warm but they soon apologised and put this right everything else was very good.

I have used this venue for several years for M5 stop offs and business lunches. It has gradually gone very much down hill with the quality of the lunch standards.
After the third bad lunch I have decided to put a review on here. Two jacket potatoes that were rock hard at the bottom. We ate through as much as we could but had to leave a complete layer of the potato uneaten. When we said we were unhappy to the waitress who collected our food she asked what was wrong and we banged the potatoes on the table! She said oh and that was it walked away and we were expecting her to return but she didn't.

Shame as its a great location and for so many years before it was sold was such a great place to enjoy a lunch.

My wife and I called in here for a snack at lunch time while on a west country tour. We were somewhat lost and came upon this hotel by chance. The decor is great with lots of alcoves around. We were made very welcome by the staff in a very attractive bar area. The menu was extensive and reasonable priced. The food came quite quickly, was nicely presented and good Would highly recommend this as a place to stop for something to eat.

We were going on holiday to Cornwall and age and infirmity indicated that a halfway overnight break would be a good idea. A search on the web came up with this hotel which was pet friendly, a necessity for us as we were taking our Jack Russell Terrier with us, We made a booking for both the outward and return journeys and we were entirely satisfied. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and we enjoyed a very good dinner on both occasions. The hotel is easily accessed from the M5 motorway but is far enough away for motorway traffic noise not to be a problem. The car park is close to the bedrooms which made for easy unloading of luggage.

For dog owners there is an easily accessed dog walking area and the car access is safe and easy via a minor side road.

Just returned from lunch at this very pleasant pub. The food was very well cooked. All six of us had roast, either beef or pork. Everything about the meal was good, even the veggies, so often micro-waved and Inedible, were cooked to perfection. The service was polite and efficient. The little bags of chocolates for the two mums in our party was a very nice touch, and the warm enquiry into whether we had enjoyed our meal much appreciated.

We won't wait until next year's Mother's Day to return.

We have just returned home from our second visit to this hotel.
On the first visit 18 months ago we booked on line and as it was only 2 star went with the mindset that it was somewhere to lay our heads at the end of a tiring day.
What a surprise we had, large rooms all en-suite and immaculate, staff can not do enough for you and so friendly. The food is fantastic.
We visit Cheddar yearly, we have returned to this hotel again this year and nothing has changed, it is still a pleasure to stay at this hotel. We arrived before check in time so went to the bar for a drink. We advised we were just having a drink to while the time away before getting into our room. The owner then came to our table, with our room keys and paperwork to sign. The customer service in this hotel goes so much further than your expectations. A lot of the team that work there are young, but they are totally focused on you as a customer and making your stay there as enjoyable as they possibly can. They are all a credit to the hotel.
We will be looking to stay at this hotel again next year!
