I live in Hackney where there are excellent quality Turkish restaurants a-plenty. Imagine my delight when I discovered the town of my birth now has a great Turkish restaurant too, only yards from the nursing home where I was born, one that would hold its own next to the Hackney eateries.
Growing up in Bridgwater more than 32 years ago, the best on offer then was a Chinese takeaway and a cafe. Now the town has this lovely restaurant and the start of a riverside terrace too.
Green Oliver's bread is supplied by a Turkish bakery in London and the food is good too. This is now a regular for our family when we visit granny. Any excuse really...
Hopefully the Green Olive will put Bridgwater on the map too. Holidaying families wanting to escape M5 traffic jams on their way to Devon or Cornwall should stop for a family meal and, while they are at it, take a wonder around the town's handful of Georgian backstreets too.
