I had reasonable expectations. It is a reasonably priced family friendly budget hotel. The location was good for us. The room was clean and tidy and there was plenty of room for us and the children.
The biggest problem was the heating. It was rather cold so we had to have the thermostat controlled heater on. The thermostat thumped when either turning the heater on or off - which was happening every 15 minutes. It kept us all awake. When we informed reception they kindly explained the workings of a thermostat but said that all rooms were the same.
There were other niggles like the extract fan in the bathroom which sounded like it was powered by a gas turbine. Fine during the day but when you are trying not to wake the kids between thermostat thumps at night time it was more than a little inconvenient. We thought there could be something wrong so informed reception but again, they are all the same. The mattress although comfortable was also very noisy - like the suspension on a mark II Ford Cortina.
On the upside, the breakfast was rather good. The service itself was appalling but the buffet was fairly well stocked and tasted OK. There was obviously no chance of us missing breakfast with the racket going on in the room.More
