“We loved everything about it”

We were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. The building goes back to the 17th century and the rooms combine the very old with completely modern facilities. Our room had lovely views to the sea in the distance, although next to the A39 we were not troubled by traffic noise. We were really impressed with the quality of the bed, it was without doubt the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel. The highlight for us was the breakfast, every thing is freshly cooked to order. I thoroughly recommend the kippers, my wife had a full English breakfast which I helped her finish, absolutely brilliant. We will certainly return to the Castle Of Comfort when we are next in the area.

From the moment we arrived till the moment we left,we could not have been made more welcome. The owners and staff are all very nice people, nothing and I mean nothing was too much trouble for them. The food in the restaurant was excellent, even here they were very helpful,as my wife eats very little red meat,so they put chicken on the menu.
As Arnie would say, We will be back.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room as I am disabled.

As other reviewers have mentioned, a very warm welcome awaits you here. You should put all thoughts of "diet" at the door as the first offer is of a wonderful cream tea. The evening meal was equally good, as was the breakfast. The service offered is friendly without being intrusive and could not be faulted.
We were a little disappointed with the room we were allocated. It was very cold and needed some attention to live up to a 5 star rating in the shower area, and a curtain that needs attention to the fitting.

Room Tip: Make sure you are allocated a room in the main house

Stayed at the Castle of Comfort for 2 nights, 5 star is an under estimate, Double room was large and contained all the items associated with a 5 star Hotel.
Food was exceptional and our host couldn't do enough for us.from the time we arrived to the time we left. A well stocked bar ( the local cider is brilliant ) we cannot recommend this hotel enough and will certainly return.

Room Tip: Although the hotel is close to the A39 all rooms are quiet.

First impressions count and we were greeted with the warmest of welcomes and made to feel as though we were visiting old friends in their home, rather than arriving at a hotel. Our room didn't disappoint - a lovely garden view, spotlessly clean, a great bathroom (and well lit - well done!), a comfy bed and sherry thrown in. We chose to eat in the hotel (the only alternatives being a drive away) and were quickly salivating at what looked a superb menu. Unfortunately the food, whilst ok, didn't live up to our expectations - the veg was just that: veg - plain carrots, plain beans ....no seasonings, no knob of butter. The fish again whilst very pleasant could have benefited from something to zuzz it up a little ....a crispy skin, a grind of salt or pepper even. ,,,the scallop starter too was a little bland. There was nothing obviously wrong, but got the feeling that there was nothing fabulously special. Breakfast however was a much better affair, with gorgeous bacon, and a super fresh fruit salad amongst the offerings to set us on our way.

We stayed at the Castle of Comfort for a wedding up the road. From the time we arrived we felt at home. The gardens are lovely and rooms are wonderful and it is run by Carol and her team brilliantly.
Nothing is to much trouble.
All the food we ate there was some of the best I have had, including the cream tea and the breakfast.
I would re-visit if I was in the area again, do stay here you will not be sorry.

We took notice of the multitude of positive reviews and certainly were not disappointed. This Country House is superb. Warmest of welcomes in a most beautiful setting.

First morning, in their grounds, we came face to face with a full grown deer. Magic moment.

Our room was comfy, spotlessly clean and well appointed.

We had dinner and it was excellent and very reasonable.

I cannot over emphasise the welcome and the friendly and helpful team here.

Anyone considering a stay look no further, you will not be disappointed. Its 5*+ and that's an understatement.

We will be staying here again and next time be taking our grown family as well.
