“Wonderful place to stay!”
Reviewed 31 May 2014 via mobile

We spent two nights with at Middle Upcott Farm and I cannot recommend it enough. From arrival, Barry and Susan made our stay very special. With a pony mad six year old, the place is a real gem. The endless horse books and ornaments captivated our daughters imagination. She was thrilled to be meet all the animals and particularly when Barry took her to meet the horses. The local knowledge shared with us proved invaluable and made our stay so much better. We had a thoroughly enjoyable horse ride with West Ansty stables onto Exmoor which dealt with our differing abilities. Our room and private bathroom were perfect and was beautifully decorated. Lots of little extras make this place real value for money. I cannot fault the breakfast and on both days it set us up for the rest of the day. We love Exmoor and now we have found a great place to stay and ride we will be back. Thank you for your hospitality!

Having been made so welcome right from the outset, Sue and Barry really wanted to make us all as comfortable ... and relaxed as possible. The location is excellent, the accommodation is just lovely and the beds are so fantastic. All in all, there was nothing to fault, only that we had to leave; and none of us wanted to. There is real attention to detail and I would go back tomorrow if I could, but hope to again at some stage.

Having stayed at Middle Upcott Farm a few times before (with horses in tow), I knew it would be the most perfect place for my six friends and I to stay following a wonderful day at the Exmoor Pony Centre, handling the wild foals. As always, Barry & Sue gave us the warmest of welcomes, going the extra mile to make our party feel completely at home in their fabulous house. Homemade cake, a pot of tea and a blazing woodburner after a cold day on the Moor, it kind of hits the spot - guaranteed! If you want sumptuous luxury, warmth, sparkling clean, beautiful bedrooms, bathrooms to die for, the breakfast to beat all breakfasts, a great nights sleep and to wake up to the smell of fresh bread and a fabulous view of Exmoor, then Middle Upcott ticks all the boxes. Go on, spoil yourself, you wont be disappointed! Upon arrival my friends (aged from mid-20's to 50 something) skipped around the bedrooms like excited children, whilst I stood back listening to the "OOH!"'s " "AHH"'s and "WOW!"'s - something which was repeated the next morning when they saw the amazing new dining room. Very impressive. Well done & thank you Barry & Sue - you made our 'girlie' weekend away very special & unforgettable.

Room Tip: All rooms are amazing appointed to a very high standard, but the new balcony room has to be seen to...

Wow!, not only is the accommodation and views stunningly beautiful but Barry and Sue have to be the best hosts 'EVER', after a long (cold) day foal handling at the Exmoor pony centre we arrived at the farmhouse to be greeted with a roaring woodburner, tea and homemade cake, after a nice hot shower and getting our glad rags on Barry and Sue ran us to the bridge pub at Dulverton then came back 3 hours later to collect us, now that is special service.

I had an excellent night sleep in the 4 poster bedroom and awoke to the smell of breakfast cooking, the breakfast was definitely the best breakfast I have been served, fresh fruit salad, cereals, Barry had got up early and made us homemade bread, there was locally sourced Exmoor jam and marmalade, a constant supply of tea, coffee and juice, then to top it all off (as if we hadn't eaten enough) there was a proper farmhouse fry up.

Barry and Sue are such a nice, welcoming couple that you go away after your stay feeling like you have been visiting close friends, I would thoroughly recommend Middle Upcott Farm Bed and Breakfast, we are already planning our next stay.

My second visit to Middle Upcott Farm was just as delightful as the first, with a warm welcome, tea, cake and good conversation with hosts Brian and Sue. The room - the same as last time - was warm, comfortable, well appointed and perfect after a long day. The bathroom, similarly, was spotless, modern and with lovely product supplied - the claw foot bath is deep and luxurious for a long hot bath.

Breakfast was wonderful, in the dining room with wood heater and full range of cereals, breads and fruits to go with the hot breakfast and fresh yoghurt.

I loved it the first time, enough to return, and wont hesitate to go out of my way to stay here again. Hard not to recommend to any group, with plenty of parking, easy to find and close to Dulverton with it's lovely hotel.
