“Modern Tearoom with chic terrace”
Reviewed 31 July 2013

Loved the development at Tantivy - remember it as a rather dowdy cardshop and newpaper vendor - but has been renovated and is a great gift shop - and a modern chic tea room.
Staff were there in numbers and whilst stressed and hot on occassions were attentive and quick.
Menu was varied mix of paninis/sandwiches and salads which were high quality and ample.
One omission - no chips - kids need chips on the menu!
Good value service and food .. definately worth a visit when in Dulverton.
One negative - we arrived at 5 to 5pm and were told they were just closing by a couple of youngters left in charge at the end of the day .. so went to the Copper Kettle and were most welcomed!

“Unfriendly, unwilling, unhelpful 'STAFF'?”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

This place is beautifully designed with a café, gift shop and general newsagent included. However whoever hired the staff needs a lesson in recruitment! The fastest way to lose repeat custom is to employ people who very obviously do not want to work. There is a notice printed on the door to say the place is open until 6.30 daily (this is also stated on the website) but these two were hell bent on closing at 5pm on a Thursday! Closing is fine if there is no business around although the town was reasonably busy but there are ways of communicating this without bad manners and a bullish stance! They were offhand and very obviously not encouraging any custom as they wanted to close and close they did! Shame because the day before there were very pleasant people serving in the morning - maybe they had a personality change overnight? Surely this is not the family who own the business?

Certainly won't bother in future - there's a very friendly tea room up the road a bit called the Copper Kettle - we'll go there...

“Just Lovely”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

After just spending a sunny Tuesday afternoon at Tarr Steps, we decided to have a tea and coffee in this inviting café, what a great choice! on arrival the waitress and waiter were immediately warm and friendly, nothing was to much trouble. we ordered a tea and a coffee, the coffee was the best I think I have ever tasted unlike some coffee I have tasted in other cafes. we sat in the courtyard which is a lovely place to watch the world go by. we shall be returning!

“Will have to up their game to compete”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

Called in to have a coffee which was fine, but young staff on the day not very friendly. The Tantivy will have to up their game if they want to compete with the other good tea shops in Dulverton.
