I am not into swanky and meticulous....home is where the heart is and The Lighthouse is a haven of peace and timelessness... calm and quiet even with my two girls... the accommodation simple, clean and neat... we felt 'loved' but not at all smothered.

if you are looking to escape from the rat race this is ideal for families and couples alike - it is a small and sweet guest house with lovely staff who leave you to get on with your day... no fuss but plenty of warmth ...

my girls enjoyed every minute - dining out in the garden not far from the lake in the summer evening with the girls playing...

Cooked breakfast and healthy choices - totally guilt free and delicious.
i cannot recommend this place enough - we will return.

Room Tip: if you are going as a family with young children ask for the family suite inside the main part of th...

We booked two rooms for a short break last weekend. The hotel is very nice and rooms are clean, however, one room with 4 beds is next to the kitchen so it's a little noisy and smells of cooking. We asked the staff for to change the room and they arranged 2 double rooms (away from the kitchen) for us. The place is clean, beautiful and quiet but be aware they offer only healthy and natural ingredients so don't expect to find dairy milk on their menu. You could either choose coconut or soya milk. The place would benefit from a small library and a games room. Slightly pricey.

Stumbled across this on a google search. The Lighthouse is a retreat for relaxation and massage. We were only looking for B&B accommodation but found a lot more than this.

Booking was easy via their website and when i contacted them to pay the remaining balance, i was given a discount as we had booked a family room (this was all that was available) but there were only myself and husband going. On arrival the site looks perfect. The main building and stable rooms are situated around a courtyard and fountain. Clean, comfortable and well looked after. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are made from converted stables and we were in room 6, which had a double and a single bed in it. Sheets perfect white, bed a bit hard for me but each to their own taste. The bathroom was a modern wet room and the complimentary toiletries were a good standard. There were incense sticks to burn and a lighter to light them with. An average size room, nothing to grand. The only downside to the room is the lack of natural light, but obviously going out to explore in the day time, ment this wasnt really a problem.
"Love in a cup" is the attached cafe which serves breakfast and is also open to the public. This is a little gem to find!. Specialising in gluten and dairy free food, my husband was in heaven as he has an intolerance to both of these. Saying that, please do not let this put you off staying here. I ate the food here and i must confess was very happy with the standard and taste. Breakfast consists of fruit, cereals, nuts juices, toast, crispbread, eggs, mackerel, sausages, yogurt and they are happy to change things to suit your taste. We bought some gluten free cocounut and blueberry muffins as a treat from the cafe. In my experience these are usually difficult to bake being gluten free, but they were just divine. Prices to eat there are very reasonable for the Bath area. Lamb chilli with nachos costing £6.99 was very tasty.
All staff were extremely friendly and we found ourselves being drawn into peoples conversations. We felt like we had been here many times before.
Only being in Somerset for 2 nights we were unable to make use of the massage facilities ect. We are definitely looking to go back at some point and will almost certainly make use of these services.
We came away with a renewed sense of health and well being as this place just makes you want to make the most of your body and life.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 6 which was a decent size. Also had a fire escape back door which has a window in...

Have just had the pleasure of staying 2 nights here and oh what a feeling of love and gentleness. The attention and care shown by all the staff was exceptional and the meals experienced at there little cafe "Love in a Cup" during my stay were pure delight. The view of the lake is beautiful and a walk around it is highly recommended. A stay here is a must and highly recommended for every one as we are all deserving of some self love and self nurturing.

We stayed for two nights at The Lighthouse, the rooms are situated in the stable block so each room is a stable conversion and thus a bit on the small side. As well as being small the room didn't have much natural light, just a skylight (that was very noisy to open) and some glass by the front door so this made the room feel a bit claustrophobic but if you're not going to spend any length of time inside then shouldn't be a problem. Also the heating is underfloor heating which can take a while to warm up, when we arrived it was quite chilly so it would have been nice if the heating had been turned on earlier so the room was already warm. Room facilities were okay tea/coffee tv but ladies you'll need to bring a hairdryer!! As other people have mentioned the food is all gluten/dairy free but I had the mackerel and eggs for breakfast and must confess it was lovely...
The staff are very friendly and welcoming and are available 24/7 if you need anything and their is a nice pub opposite which does great evening meals but be sure to book a table.
We normally stay with family when in this part of the country but due to "overcrowding" we booked into the lighthouse and found it quite adequate.

Set around a fountain courtyard are the beautiful converted B&B rooms of the Lighthouse. Its a quite and peaceful place to stay. Rooms have underfloor heating, showers and comfy beds. Some toiletries are provided. The tea tray has coffee bags and a selection of herbal teas, & honey. Soya / coconut milk is available. The grounds are lovely with a fishing lake, small forested area and a walking route right from the door. Breakfast is buffet of cereal, toast and nuts, all gluten and ?diary free, as the only milk is soya or coconut. Then hot options of egg any style, bacon, sausage, and more that I can't remember. Its got a menu of herbal teas - if you want camomile, liquorice and fennel - It is all gluten free so Coeliacs / wheat intolerant are well catered for. Its also a 'place of healing' so alternative therapies are available and they request that you don't bring alcohol onto the premisses. Only 3 miles from Frome, and there is a good pub 'fox and hounds' just 5 min walk down the road with good pub grub / cypriot styled menu - so good we went there twice. Has a swimming pool but not sure when we could use it. Overall a lovely tranquil place to stay, a great base to explore the area, welcoming hosts and much nicer than a travel lodge. If I was in the area again I would definately go back.

Room Tip: All good. If you need tea caffeine first thing - bring your own tea bags.

I found this B+B after searching for a place to take my mum for a weekend away to visit Longleat, it was a similar price to the local travel lodge and the website sold it to me. I was not disapointed, the rooms are well decorated renovated stables with excellent facilities, including small extras which really made the difference, it was spotlessly clean. The owners and staff were all friendly and helpful making you feel relaxed for the duration of your stay. The breakfast was excellent i don't normally eat breakfast however both mornings i helped myself to the fresh fruit on the buffet as well as hot menu selection. The local pub (3 min walk) serves good food although you have to book a table if you want to eat, on the first night we did not know this yet they still accomodated us. i would recomend this B+B for any one looking for a peaceful break away, they also a conference centre and selection of treatments such as massages although we did not use these the facilites looked excellent.
