“Very welcoming when you have small and noisy children”
Reviewed 23 December 2013

We, a family of 5, stayed at the Lighthouse while visiting family in nearby Frome and would have been very happy to stay for more than our single night. For a start all of the staff here were very friendly and welcoming, happy to chat and make sure that we and our children enjoyed our time with them in every way. As part of this we booked adjoining rooms and this worked very well as everyone got a good night's sleep and we benefited from the very large shower room (although there was no bath).

In the morning we had a leisurely breakfast overlooking the grounds outside while two of our party benefited from a relaxing massage in the next door health and fitness centre. These went down very well as did our delicious and fresh breakfasts. After this we swam in the indoor pool, which was very warm and suitable for children, before finally departing near lunchtime. We probably would have stayed for lunch had we not had a prior commitment!

An excellent establishment which we hope to visit again.

My husband and I stayed there with our grown up daughter. We were initially attracted by the gluten free, dairy free, sugar free menu, as we have discovered that we need to avoid these foods to be well. However there were other draws such as the beautiful location and peaceful atmosphere.
It was a great treat to be given delicious food in the cafe by knowledgeable kitchen staff and we enjoyed every meal, especially the wide variety of choices at beakfast.
The Lighthouse is surrounded by large grounds where you can take a walk and we also enjoyed exploring the countryside to discover longer walks. We really enjoyed visiting the quirky boutiques and galleries in Frome.
Evening meals were available from the cafe, as frozen meals which could be heated up in the small kitchen for guest use.
There is a luxuriously warm swimming pool at £3 a session on the same premises. It has very limited opening times and is full of young families at the weekend but we enjoyed a peaceful dip at 7.30am one morning.
All in all highly recommended.

Room Tip: We think we had the best rooms there - two rooms on the first floor with adjoining bathroom. One la...

Everything about the Lighthouse was perfect for our special weekend away at Longleat Safari for my husbands 40th birthday with our daughters. Except as our daughters are under five we booked an adjoining room so we could relax in front of the TV during the evening but we were unable to watch it as there was either no reception or a very pixelated picture which was very disappointing.

The excellent converted farmhouse known as 'The Lighthouse' at Tytherington just outside Frome, is a hotel and conference centre. However, the moment you step inside the "Love in a cup" restaurant you realise that this is somewhere special. If you're having problems finding good dairy and gluten-free food then you must try this place. We had a lovely spicy chicken served up in Humous with spinach and beetroot. The staff are delightful and very caring.
I have attended a couple of courses here and you can't help but notice the pervasive, tranquil atmosphere.
There's a welcoming open fire, and the views across the Somerset parkland and lake are quite
beautiful. Geographically, it's just outside Frome, not far from the A361 Shepton Mallet road.
It's also only 30 minutes away from Bath.

The Lighthouse was a lovely haven for us before heading into Bath for the busy Christmas Market. The staff were very welcoming and the room had thoughtful touches like incense and bottled water. The choice of breakfast meals was healthy and extremely tasty.

We will be coming back again to enjoy all of The Lighthouse facilities and less of the frantic shopping!

A big thank you to everyone at The Lighthouse for making us feel so welcome x

Room Tip: We had a family suite which was spacious and private, easily sleeping 3, and an en-suite with an aw...

This is a lovely hotel. Went for a shopping trip to Bath which was only about 25mins away. Lovely room, facilities & staff. Will definately revisit. There is a great pub just along from the hotel for food.

My partner, myself and my son have stayed at The Lighthouse a few times, it has everything we need; a heated swimming pool opposite, a comfortable library room with an open fire and sofa's to relax in and toys for my son to play with. There's a great cafe serving homemade food. The staff are really friendly and always make us welcome. The rooms are comfortable and have lovely little home from home touches. There are also beautiful grounds, space for my little boy to run around and a lake to walk around. I highly recommend this b&b.

Room Tip: There is a spacious family room with three beds and a large shower, room no.6.
