“Good enough coffee”
Reviewed 27 July 2013

The coffee was good - definitely better than Starbucks or Costa but on par with other good local cafes. The beans are roasted locally and they take a lot of pride of this fact - even putting this as a sign of "premium" coffee. I am not sure I buy it. However, as I said, the coffee was good. I had a latte and the milk is homogenized and sourced locally. The espresso to milk ratio was good, and the coffee was more lovingly crafted than made.

The interior is like being in a mancave, and there is definitely a motorbike/garage theme. It's a small cafe so there isn't a lot of seating. However, this place is about quality over quantity.

The barista was friendly, but a bit snobby about the next town over which was a bit unwelcoming.

Thanks for your review.

Just to clarify, our coffee is Roasted in Radstock by Roundhill Roastery. Roundhill are considered one of the top coffee roasters in the country. It's highly regarded by the UK's top baristas and used regularly by the UK barista champion 2012. Round Hill Roastery sources, roasts and packs the world’s finest coffee. The coffee is grown by independent farmers using sustainable methods. In the shop I extract the coffee to exact recipes which I weigh and time throughout the day. The coffee is ground into the basket. It's still in bean form until I get your order! I'd say premium is a perfect description for it!

Our milk is exclusively from Ivy House farm in Beckington, it is semi skimmed, from Jersey cows and is UNHomogenised. This ensures optimum sweetness as the homogenisation process used in 99% of milk can take the natural sugars and flavour from it.

All the above ensures a great cup of coffee!

The shop is a hive of intelligent conversation, hi jinx, laughter, banter and fun. Opinions are expressed frequently! By everyone! I'm sorry if you thought I was snobby. I'm certainly not anti anywhere but I am very pro Crocker and Woods and of course pro Frome! That's why I single handedly financed, built, furnished and now run the shop here!

xx

“Fantastic Coffee”
Reviewed 6 May 2013 via mobile

My boyfriend and I popped in for a coffee whilst in Frome - we always try to avoid the costa's and Starbucks as much as possible and so were pleased to find this gem. The guy serving was friendly and made great coffee. Coffee was punchy but really smooth and the small but quirky seating area added to the atmosphere. We avoided the homemade cakes and this wasn't easy as they looked fantastic! Next time you're looking for coffee in Frome - go 'off piste' and try Crocker and woods.
