What can I say just perfect. Breakfast lovely sausages. Perfect setting shame weather wasn't better but they can't control that. Village is beautiful and relaxing set in a place of natural beauty. Thank you.

We have come here for 2 nights with our 3 year old though a Groupon voucher. The hotel is well signposted and was easy to find. There was a welcome smile from the lady on reception who pointed us in the direction of our room. Our room is lovely, we upgraded to superior on the advice if reception so that we would have more space for the 3 of us. The room is spacious and the bathroom has a bath which is great if you have small children.
The chef offered to cook a meal for our son so we didn't have to wait for the restaurant to open at 7 which was fantastic.
Our baby monitor reached to the restaurant so we decided to put our son to bed and have dinner just the two of us. This is obviously a very personal choice but we felt that as the hotel is quite small it would be fine.
The only criticism I would have is that their coffee goes cold very quickly!?
A great stay, thank you.

On behalf of all the staff at the hotel we are delighted to receive your comments and feedback. Families and family groups are very welcome at the hotel whilst cooking fresh food for little ones is something we know that like our chefs, parents (and grand-parents) are very keen on. Thank you again and we hope to welcome you back again soon

This is the second time for us to stay at this hotel this year! Unheard of for us, but I bought the Groupon deal as soon as it came up. Yet again it was well worth a visit and our room was the garden terrace one which was worth the upgrade. It was large comfy nicely decorated and had its own conservatory so much better for my husband's guide dog. The food was even better than last time and I spoke to the chef about my special diet so we could work out something I could eat safely. They did a set menu for Sunday which was very good value and plenty of choice. I think it is lovely for a short stay and I would describe it as 'quirky' but very nice all the same. Would definitely return next year,

Thank you very much for your review, especially for highlighting our flexible attitude to diet requests which we realise can be treated with indiffernce but we are very proud of the great catering team at the hotel and the excellent food they prepare. We look forward to welcoming you back to Somerset soon.

We booked this through groupon and although it was disappointing that the hotel couldn't find a mutually convenient weekend free, important of you can only take time out at weekends, we went mid week and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I can't fault the staff: they worked hard and were always courteous. Our room was small but very comfortable with a good shower. Breakfasts were very good and so was the welcome cream tea after a day spent lost over the quantocks ( take an OS map....the fog can descend, and did). Dinners were perfect for us. We are not big eaters and I guess that for some the smallish portions might be an issue. I ate vegetarian both nights and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. If you do cross the quantocks and climb down to crowcombe, beware the steep drop down into the village and make sure you visit the Carew Arms. It is a real pub with regulars who can put you right on the way back! Thank you to the hotel....we had a lovely couple of days.

We came to this hotel in August 2013 for what was originally a 2-night stay via a GroupOn deal, taking our 2 year old daughter and 9 month old son with us. The deal included a fantastic free cream tea with sparkling wine (which is definitely worth paying for if you're not coming on an offer), and breakfast each morning.

First impressions were great: the hotel is set in lovely quiet grounds in a little valley, surrounded by stunning scenery of quaint village houses, a little stream, and a (sadly) disused water wheel. The hotel was extremely clean and our room (#10) was immaculate with a nice decor and en-suite bath/shower and toilet.

The breakfast menu offered a variety of items. Cereals, juices and jams were offered as buffet items, and cooked items and yoghurts were available on request. Toast and coffee were also provided. I would recommend the smoked haddock; my daughter would recommend the scrambled egg. The evening menu also had a varied selection, and used fresh produce from the hotel's kitchen garden. The prices for the evening meals were a bit expensive, but typical, I suppose, for type of food served.

After a good night's sleep on the first night, we decided to extend our stay to 3 nights.

Expect slightly inflated bar prices, but they could be worse as far as hotel prices go (£4/pint). The nearest pub ("The Plough Inn") is about a 10 min walk from the hotel, down a country lane. If you plan on going, make sure you take a torch with you as there is no street lighting for your return walk!

With regards to children, we felt our children were very much welcome in the hotel. Bear in mind that this is a hotel, so don't expect any children's activities or entertainment (which is exactly how we wanted it), so you'll have to entertain your children yourselves! We felt that the hotel was small enough to leave the children asleep in the room in the evenings, allowing us to go downstairs to the bar/restaurant with a baby monitor (the bar is directly underneath Room 10). From what we could tell, there was only one main entrance/staircase, which was always in view, so we felt somewhat safe knowing we could see who was entering/leaving the hotel. (Don't obviously take my word for it though, use your own discretion if you plan to leave your children alone in their rooms).

What we'll remember the most from our trip was the the warm, welcoming attitude of the staff. Throughout our stay, the staff were fantastic with our children, going the extra mile to take the time to make conversations with them. We frequently bumped into (who we presume was) the owner, and he was also very accommodating. In particular, we asked him whether the restaurant could prepare an off-menu pasta dish for our daughter prior to its opening hours, such that we could put her to bed and enjoy a meal in the restaurant ourselves. He was only too happy to oblige - and the pasta dish that the chef prepared was really nice!

Upon checking out from the hotel, we realised that we had not been charged for our third night. If my past morals are anything to go by, I would have kept quiet and been happy that I got away without paying. However, given we had such a great time and the staff made our stay so inviting and personal, we felt that we wanted to support the hotel and its staff. As a result, I phoned the hotel back the following day and asked to pay the outstanding bill. This is unheard of for me - and certainly wouldn't have happened had we stayed at a hotel chain - and the lady who answered the phone was also surprised.

Note: We came to this hotel via a GroupOn deal, hence we have given a slightly biased rating for "Value". Saying that, however, we found our stay completely flawless and believe it would have been value for money had we paid full price.

Room Tip: We paid a little bit more for Room 10 (front-facing, views of the front garden). This room has a lit...

This is my first hotel review, Ive never felt moved to write one before but Combe House deserves it. Purchased a groupon deal for two nights and added a third onto it. The friendly helpful staff made it a very pleasant experience. Rooms were nice and clean and everything worked. Quiet and peaceful at night time. Lovely grounds to take afternoon tea in. Delicious homemade food. Cant wait to stay there again. Good base to explore from.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back. Only difference i can imagine this making is that you wouldnt hear cars r...

Stayed here again for 2 nights (September 15th) and as usual the service was excellent and the food delicious. The staff really are an asset to this place - all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Our room was nicely decorated with a separate little sitting room area which was lovely. The toiletries are of a lovely quality and plenty of instant hot water for a bath.

We had a day out in Watchet which is a delightful little town with several pubs selling lots of real ale.

All in all another great stay - thank you!
