Reviewed 29 July 2014

we'd eaten in the pub a couple of times and had very good meals both times.so 12 of us had lunch there on 27thjuly to celebrate my birthday.
everything was perfect.our party included children and 2 vegans, everyone was catered for exceptionally well and the food was excellent and plentiful.
the service was first rate with many thanks to Connor for looking after us so well
i would recommend the manor arms wholeheartedly!
the 2 vegans stopped 1 night in the b&b and were very impressed as well

We stayed at The Manor Arms for two nights in May for a wedding at Haselbury Mill.
We arrived quite late as we had driven down from London. As soon as we arrived we felt very welcome and had a few drinks at the bar to relax after a long journey. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small but had everything that we needed.
Breakfast the next morning was amazing! We ate every last scrap! All of the staff are so helpful and friendly.

We stayed here for two nights for a wedding at Haselbury Mill. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were basic with tiny bathrooms but were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely, well cooked and good service. We had dinner at the pub too and it was large portions and good value for money, would recommend. Our rooms were above the pub and so we could hear downstairs, but they kicked out shortly after 11pm and it didn't bother us. Wifi was patchy, and the TVs in the rooms were small but if you come with the expectation of an old school pub b&b then you won't be disappointed. Value for money and friendly staff, good for short stays.

A real shame about the state of the room. Fantastic staff and great food ,this would be a lovely place to stay except for the accomodation. Dank, damp, musty room with poor fitments the impression given by the website is quite misleading. No wi-fi in the room and the photos must have been taken some time ago.Go for dinner or a drink but I can't recommend staying. Pity.

I stayed here with my husband. Our room was cold and damp with the bedding feeling moist and a patch of mould on the wall. The room generally felt tired and in need of an up date. The service and the breakfast was good. However, despite the attractive price, we felt it was poor value for money.

We were travelling to the West County from Kent and we decided to have a spot of lunch enroute at the Manor Arms.  Our choice of place was not accidental as we had stayed there many times (we have lost count but at least over ten times) in the past when run by previous owners Rex & Jane Gilmore.  We wanted to see the place again and meet the new owners as there had been some poor reviews when a company had taken over the inn. I am glad to say that overall the place is still as we knew it and hasn't changed at all and a pint of Butcombe tasted just the same as ever. They even had Haddock Smokies on the menu (a previous favourite). One thing that was missing was a 1918 framed poster/advertisement of end of War Celebrations in the village stating refreshments in the Village Hall and their prices. It would be nice if whoever removed it could drop it back as it was part of the Inn. We hope to make a reservation again the next time we want visit South Somerset. The Inn is probably the heart of the village and with regular theme nights to bring in the locals we wish Graham and his wife every success.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annex are quieter than within the Inn.

Thank you for your interesting review and your kind comments. I know you met my husband when you visited and relived some of the old times. With regard to the picture of the village hall celebrations at the end of the war showing those interesting prices of everything I do know that when we were taken over by "the chain" one of the villagers came and took it away for safety. I do believe it is now on the wall in the village hall but I will see if I can get it back for the pub now that the pub is safely in our hands. Do come back again and visit and we are so pleased that you found things as good as they ever were. It is very hard to re-build that wonderful reputation that the pub always had for both its accommodation and gourmet food when it was so ruined by bad management and lack of interest by chain ownership for 2 years.
