We were delighted to be able to make a return visit to the house for five days over New Year and again we recommend it highly - thank you for a lovely stay. The house is beautifully maintained, comfortable, warm, welcoming and large enough to accommodate six adults with ease. We did several walks from the door and enjoyed Dunster Castle and grounds, Valley of the Rocks/Lynton as well as a trip on the West Somerset Steam railway. Whatever the weather, the view from the window seat towards the beach is always a good one and was much enjoyed by us all.
Porlock is a lovely friendly village with nice cafes and shops. The Ship Inn has a good range of local ciders and beers and is highly recommended.
Thanks to Mrs Miles for the delicious cake and we also enjoyed the bottle of bubbly on New Year's Eve.
We are all looking forward to returning later in the year.
Amazing home, everything we needed and more, the extra touches made our holiday. Beds very comfortable, all spotlessly clean, dog and child friendly,. Lovely village, great pub (The Ship) good food and very welcoming, didn't get to try the rest. Great for walking. Look forward to going back.
We our had a 3 night stay here in Maxwelton. Fabulous in every way possible. Warm and very comfortable. Everything was thought of. Even a Christmas tree in the lounge area.
I was unwell during our stay. But due to the comfortable surroundings it was made a lot easier.
It is the best self catering accommodation I have stayed in. It is in a lovely position in the village.Wonderful views across to Wales and lots of birds in the garden.
Well done we will definitely be back and recommend to friends
Great location within easy walking distance of the beach. We found many lovely walks without needing to drive much and were able to walk one way and get the bus back for one walk. The cottage was very clean and had the most comfortable bed and sofa we've ever had in a cottage, plus a large modern TV and good WiFi. Very welcoming and able to accommodate a last minute booking too. Hopefully we'll be back.
This Porlock cottage was a perfect base for our 7 day walking holiday. We walked the Coleridge Way from Somerset to Devon, taxi-ing from this cottage to our start position each day. The Property was presented immaculately and you would not want for anything when staying here as it is comprehensively equipped. The Housekeeper lives adjacent and was on tap for any help we needed and even generously baked for us on a couple of occasions.
The property is dog friendly with an enclosed garden for safety and the parking for two cars is a massive advantage with parking being at a premium in Porlock.
I travelled with 3 friends and we all agree that the property was the best holiday rental we have stayed in and we are very likely to return in the future.
The cottage is in an excellent location with easy access to the shops and pubs in the village. We have stayed here four times now and find the accommodation ideal for a family holiday. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable with a lovely kitchen and a large living/dining room. The views from Maxwelton are magnificent and the view from the top of the garden is breathtaking. It's lovely to sit up there and have breakfast outside in the morning sunshine, or a glass of wine in the evening, taking in the lovely view of the sea and Bossington Hill. Porlock is a beautiful village with lots of walks right on your doorstep. Not far away is Dunster with its lovely castle and up Porlock Hill and over exmoor leads to Lynmouth and Lynton with more lovely walks to be done including Valley of the Rocks and Watersmeet. We love this place and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys beautiful scenery and lovely walks with cream teas and of course, a pint of exmoor ale.
Amazing location with beach so near we all loved it great accomadation with everything you need . Well kept rear garden fully enclosed so dogs could run free.
Fantastic & peaceful holiday thanks to Jacquie & her team definetly visit again !
