A very imposing Guest House at the end of the High Street in Porlock. Even though the house is very old the rooms are very beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. Everything you could think of is provided for you, in fact we tried our hardest to think of anything that was missed but could find nothing. There are the usual tea/coffee making facilities and a hairdryer but also a bath robe and slippers!! and in the bathroom towels are provided plus shampoo and conditioner in the shower. There is even a toiletry bag that contains all those items you may not think of packing (i.e. nail clippers, cotton buds, ladies toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrush even a razor and hairspray!!) The breakfast was excellent with freshly sourced local sausages , bacon and jams. John runs a very tight ship when it comes to breakfast and is there waiting for you at your requested breakfast time to take your order for tea/coffee and toast whilst you help yourself to cereals or fresh fruit. Although we did not use the restaurant you can also pre-order your food for that evening from a very good menu at very reasonable prices. So if you're thinking of staying in Porlock for a short break or summer holiday, look no further than Rose Bank. You are guaranteed a very warm welcome from John and Elaine.

Room Tip: Porlock Carnival takes place on the first Saturday of September each year. If you don't like cro...

A beautiful guest house situated on the high street of Porlock. Beauftiful rooms, we stayed in no 4 and had lovely views of Porlock bay and could even see South Wales! We also had beautiful brightly moon lit sky on Friday night which could be viewed whilst laying in bed through the skylight window! Our room was very clean and had everything one would need (TV, hairdryer, CD player, sweets, Tea/Coffee making facilities, lovely biscuits etc) a very clean en suite with shower that included shampoo and conditioner, cotton wool, towels and flannels. There was also a little bag in the bathroom that contained anything you may have forgotten for example, toothpaste, toothbrush, razor, sowing kit etc.

The breakfast in the morning is to die for. Lovely selection of cereal, fresh fruit juice, condiments, fruit and local jams (you must try the Wortleberry jam it is gorgeous!). Every day John/Elaine will leave a small card in your room in which you can make your order of cooked breakfast which can include, bacon, local sausage from the butchers, eggs a variety of different ways, beans, mushroom, hash brown, tomato etc.

I could not fault this accomodation, it had everything one could need and was very well kept and clean. The hosts make you feel very welcome and are always on hand should you need them! I would definatley recommend this guest house - you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Room number 4 has an excellent view of the sea

Best breakfast in the south west wonderful rooms every thing you need,John and Elaine are perfect hosts they couldn't do enough for you.
Handy off road parking as Porlock is limited. The Rose Bank is situated in a lovely area which is central for visiting other areas in Exmoor.

Had a lovely weekend at Rose bank. Very comfortable warm room with a great view out to sea and we could have our dog in with us,which was a huge plus for us. Bed was also extremely comfy and the breakfasts were superb with a great selection. Elaine and John were great hosts and couldn't do enough for you. All great value for money. Would highly recommend Rose Bank.
