“Enjoyable Stay Best B&B”
Reviewed 3 July 2013

My wife & I have just spent 4 nights at Myrtle cottage, Nothing was too much trouble for Janet & Nigel who helped to make our stay most enjoyable. The rooms were spotless & the breakfasts fantastic with an excellent choice cooked to order. The surrounding area & scenery is brilliant for walking or even driving & the West Somerset railway a short drive away for train lovers. "The Ship" just up the high street & the "Culbone" about 10 minutes by car are good for evening meals. Will certainly visit again.

This is the second time me and Jenny have stayed in this quant thatched cottage right in the heart of Porlock, Somerset. We always feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble for Janet and Nigel (the owneres) who are genuinley really nice, honest and down to earth. Their home cooked breakfasts are one if not the best I have tasted as all the meat and produce they source is of the highest quality. The rooms themselves are small but very comfortable. There is even free wifi which is great as there is no 3G signal in Porlock. Overall 10/10 for quality, service and facilities. This B&B fully deserves a good review I strongly recommend a stay here. Philippe & Jenny.

Stayed just one night at this excellent B&B but it was a lovely welcoming break during our walking holiday. Our room was clean, bright and comfortable. Breakfast was first class. Hosts were genuinely warm and friendly and offered helpful tips for our walk the next day. Would highly recommend it to other walkers on the Coastal Footpath.

We stayed for 1 night while on a tour of the UK. Janet & Nigel were so friendly and helpful with tips and information for the rest of our trip. The B&B was absolutely beautiful, full of history. The room was very clean spacious a super comfortable. Our front room had a beautiful cottage garden view of the street. Pubs and other needs are within walking distance in a beautiful countryside village, wish we could spend more time.

Best B&B we've ever stayed in. Nigel and Janet were great hosts and couldn't do enough to make our short stay enjoyable. Room was clean and well equipped. Great position for pubs and cafes and great countryside and coastal walks. We will definetly be returning.

Janet & Nigel have to be the friendliest hosts we have come across, they couldn't do enough for us. We had the most wonderful stay with them and felt really at home. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was great, you really must try Janets home made marmarlade for breakfast. Could have easily have stayed longer if it hadn't been for a rugby match!

The owners (Nigel & Janet) are welcoming, friendly and attentive to their guests needs. The rooms are very clean, extremely comfortable and have a homely atmosphere. And when it comes to breakfast, be hungry! Additionally, and unusually, Myrtle Cottage is dog friendly, which makes it ideal for those of you with a 'pooch' you don't want to leave at home (or worse, in kennels). Am looking forward to our next stay, already.
