We've just spend two nights at this 16th century cottage, which was build for people a lot smaller than this century. But the magnificent state of the house and the decoration made up for this and made sure that we were as comfortable as we could. You will not be able to find more hospitable people than our hosts in this magical place. Together with 10 bikers we enjoyed our breakfast, which is altered to your own needs, had secure of the road parking and witnessed the awesome surroundings.

Best regards to Nigel and Janet!

Rowan

Just returning from a fabulous weekend in porlock. The hosts Janet and Nigel could not of been more perfect, the cottage is one of the most beautiful cottages I've ever seen and it's bursting with character!
The surrounding areas are picture perfect and dining at the near by pub was great!
Already looking forward to our next visit! Thanks Nigel and Janet for making our stay so welcome genuinely felt like we were staying with old friends :)

Stayed for one night at Myrtle Cottage, travelling with wife and parents. Lovely old cottage, full of history, not a level floor or ceiling to be seen - best part of it! Nigel and Janet were perfect hosts - we honestly felt like we were staying with old friends rather than the owners - lots of laughs! Great comfortable rooms, fantastic breakfast, well worth an early morning stroll (0630 is early in the UK!) around the village to look at the beautiful houses and view from fields above. Would not hesitate to stay here again when next in the area, thank you Nigel and Janet.

We wanted to stay 5 nights at Myrtle Cottage but due to the beer festival Nigel and Janet could only offer us three nights, we stayed in Room 5 because we asked for this on booking, beautiful room very clean and lovely views, there are some steep steps to reach the room. We received a very warm welcome and met with Nigels parents who were very nice. This wonderful thatched cottage is over 400 years old, Ideal place to stay for walking, cycling, fishing, bird watching (and we saw lots of birds and red kites), There is free parking front and back, secure cycling storage and a place to dry clothes. Everything is at hand, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and shops. Porlock has an excellent bus service. All rooms have complimentary tea, coffee and toiletries, flat screen TV with freeview and free wi fi. Dear Janet and Nigel thank you so much for all your help and kindness and hey Nigel you are a fabulous cook. Both of you keep up the good work. We will be back

My wife & I have just spent 4 nights at Myrtle cottage, Nothing was too much trouble for Janet & Nigel who helped to make our stay most enjoyable. The rooms were spotless & the breakfasts fantastic with an excellent choice cooked to order. The surrounding area & scenery is brilliant for walking or even driving & the West Somerset railway a short drive away for train lovers. "The Ship" just up the high street & the "Culbone" about 10 minutes by car are good for evening meals. Will certainly visit again.

This is the second time me and Jenny have stayed in this quant thatched cottage right in the heart of Porlock, Somerset. We always feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble for Janet and Nigel (the owneres) who are genuinley really nice, honest and down to earth. Their home cooked breakfasts are one if not the best I have tasted as all the meat and produce they source is of the highest quality. The rooms themselves are small but very comfortable. There is even free wifi which is great as there is no 3G signal in Porlock. Overall 10/10 for quality, service and facilities. This B&B fully deserves a good review I strongly recommend a stay here. Philippe & Jenny.
