My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to stay at Mariners Lodge for one night this week - we just wish it was more. We felt so welcomed and comfortable instantly. The room was spacious, well decorated and the bed was the most comfortable I have slept in for a while. The breakfast was beyond our expectations with home made bread, fresh eggs, warm croissants and great coffee, as well as the traditional English breakfast. We would have no hesitation in coming back or recommending the Lodge to anyone.

We had a great stay at Mariners Lodge. The house is charming with gorgeous uninterrupted views of the curve of the bay. Caroline Clifford is an excellent cook and everything we ate was delicious. We had an outstanding three course dinner our first night, and a hearty breakfast in the morning, including very good muesli, boiled egg and home-made toast and marmalade. The Cliffords are welcoming, informative hosts, knowledgeable about the area and keen to make sure you have a good time while you are there, but not intrusive. The bedroom was well-equipped and with stunning views across the fields to the sparkling blue sea. It was raining at home when we left, but it was warm and sunny in Porlock and it felt as though we had had a summer holiday, even though we were only there for two days. I would definitely recommend Mariners Lodge in Porlock and I will definitely return I hope one day.

I stayed in Mariner's Lodge for one night. Caroline and Rollo could not have done more to make me feel welcome. Caroline is a wonderful inventive cook and uses locally sourced produce where ever possible - we even had a home made bread making lesson. There are lovely walks by the estuary and up the hills behind with magical wild gardens and the Moor above. The bedrooms are comfortable and homely with lovely views and the private sitting room is really cosy. It is a home from home.

Room Tip: All the rooms are delightful and all different.

Very helpful even before we got there and couldnt do enough for us when we were. Great views from the room & conservatory (breakfast room). Rooms good with loads of pictures/antiques to look at, especially if raining. Minor downside, bathroom not en suite but that said you felt like you were sharing a house rather than a hotel. Highly recommend.
