A warm welcome, delicious home-cooked supper. Bedroom has a view to die for of Porlock Bay -marshes and the sea, with delightful crisp linen sheets - I wanted to stay in bed for ever! Even the biscuits by the bed were home made and the best ever. Woke up at dawn to see sun rising over the sea. Walked passed a field of sheep, along the beach to delightful Porlock Weir.
Homely atmosphere with wagging dogs and good old furniture and paintings.
Hosts Caroline and Rollo felt like old friends within less than 24 hours.
Not for those who want noise, bustle, plastic furniture, modern spas etc.
I wanted to move in, and can't wait to go back for comfortable peace.

Room Tip: Rooms both have fab views and good bathrooms with proper towels.

We had a wonderful 3 night break at Mariners Lodge. We arrived to a warm welcome, 2 very friendly, bouncing spaniels, tea and lemon drizzle cake. Caroline made us feel very welcome in her home and we left feeling like we'd made a friend. We had gone with the intention (and a rough plan) of exploring Exmoor and Caroline shared her overwhelming knowledge and enthusiam of the area with us. With her guidance we had the most wonderful walk which led us to some spectactular scenary and we got up close to some of Exmoor's exclusive wildlfe. Mariners Lodge is very much a family home and we felt very touched that Caroline put so much effort into us having a romantic and relaxing stay there. Thank you so much Caroline, we hope to stay with you again.

I took my ninety year old father on a nostalgic road trip to the west country where we spent holidays as children and stayed at Mariners Lodge. Caroline and Rollo could not have been kinder and more welcoming. They made my father feel really at home and were able to talk to him about things he was interested in. We all sat down and watched The Queen's Birthday Parade together. It was so happy and friendly and my father loved his trip away and thought Caroline did so much for him to make it a special visit including giving us directions of special things to see on Exmoor and the really scenic routes. I can't wait to go again. SJW - London and JWS - Haslemere

Room Tip: All the rooms are charming with sweeping views of the garden and the sea beyond. Total quiet.

This is a lovely B&B in West Porlock with parking. Both rooms are lovely, we had the blue room with the bathroom without the shower. There is a hospitality tray and what I always think is the sign of a quality b&b, fresh milk, none of this uht rubbish!!
Although the bathrooms are not ensuite they are for your own private use and much better than an ensuite actually.
This is Caroline's family home and she lets you stay there like a friend visiting. She makes a really good breakfast with her own homemade bread, really tasty.
She will give you good tips on where to eat and where to visit, she made us feel very welcome and we would happily return. Thank you for your hospitality Caroline, it was 1st class.

Room Tip: both have good views, original furniture, and private bathrooms.

This is an absolutely delightful place to stay. Our room was beautiful with comfortable beds and breathtaking views . Caroline is a charming hostess and made every effort to ensure our stay was as pleasant as possible. Her local knowledge made our exploration of the local area very interesting.
We thoroughly enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at Mariners lodge , the standard of the food is excellent. Meals are taken in a light airy conservatory overlooking a beautul garden and the sea.
This is the perfect place for an idyllic few days.

Room Tip: We saw both rooms ar Mariners lodge and they were both delightful Andover Poked thesea

Came for a wedding but stayed for a long weekend - so glad we did. The Mariners Lodge, with perfect host Caroline, husband Rollo, other family members, 2 spaniels, 2 cats and a parrot - all wonderfully welcoming, warm and friendly. We were made to feel like friends of the family from the very start of our lovely weekend. I shall certainly miss those sumptuous breakfasts with home made bread, jams and marmalade, not forgetting an English cooked breakfast to order. That would have all been good enough but the views from the garden and our bedroom window were to die for - exquisite. Good company and a great stay.

A very warm welcome from a couple of very excited Spaniels, and Caroline with a cup of tea and slice of home made cake, we were made to feel at home straight away. Breakfast was perfect, more than enough, with mixed fruit, cereal, yoghurt and full English. With fresh home baked bread every morning which is delicious with melted butter!
On Google maps it looks further from the beach than it actually is. The view from our room was amazing to wake up to. It looks straight out on the Bristol Channel and across to Wales. I managed to catch the sunrise!
Caroline is very knowledgable of the local area and pointed us to a few very nice places. The smallest church in England being one of them.
We have been to many good B&Bs all over the country but this is most definately the best. We will definately return again one day.
If you're looking for B&B on Exmoor the I Definately recommend Mariners Lodge.
