Description: Relax and unwind while you enjoy the stunning views from our peaceful bedrooms, and outside dining area. The seasonal views of the Valley and Moors are breathtaking (the coastal mist adds real magic to the landscape). Lush green in the spring and summer and full of character and action in autumn and winter. Partridge, pheasant and deer are our companions in the milder months. Staying at The Culbone is a great way to experience life on Exmoor.

“Lovely Lunch”
Reviewed 18 December 2012

I've eaten at The Culbone a few times, so it was the pefect choice for lunch with a girlfriend. It was pleasantly busy (always a good sign) and the food and service both excellent, as always!

My friend hadn't been to The Culbone before, but I'm sure she'll be back. I definately will, so thank you Culbone for another lovely meal.

“Everything a restaurant should be”
Reviewed 17 December 2012

On frequent trips to Porlock Weir the entire family always looks forward to a trip to The Culbone. The food is always first class, beautifully presented and sourced locally. We often go as a large party (6+) at busy times and the service is always excellent, friendly and informal ... a balancing act so rarely achieved elsewhere. The specials board and main menu evolves with the season and the frequent speciality nights draw you back time after time knowing that there is always a new dish to try. Scallops, Duck Liver pate, Pheasant and the excellent Devon red beef have all been highlights over the last few months. Succinctly a fine restaurant, with great food run by a passionate team.

“AN EXMOOR TREAT”
Reviewed 12 December 2012

What a find.Situated up on beutiful Exmoor with breathtaking scenery all around. Our friends rang to ask if we fancied going out mid-week for lunch out Lynmouth way.It was decided we would give the Culbone a try.One of us being a wheelchair user can sometimes make eating out awkward, no such problem here. What great staff, cheerful, helpful and very local. The lunch menu was very comprehensive and reasonably priced. After a very satisfying and tasty meal it was agreed that we would be making a return visit in the near future, and probably for an evening meal.Well done the Culbone see you again very soon.

We look forward to welcoming you of an evening when the menu is slighty bigger (but just as delicious)

“A Gastronomonic Oasis in Exmoor!”
Reviewed 23 November 2012

My wife and I have eaten in the Culbone on numerous occasions since moving into the area and have seldom been disappointed. We are always made welcome by friendly staff and the food is first class. Never short of ideas, Mark, Jack and the team are always offering a variety of different menus using quality locally produced food.

The Culbone's flexible opening times mean that you can almost always get a table long after less hospitable establishments have stopped serving so it is not surprising that there is an atmospheric buzz around the place despite being away from the madding crowd, in such isolated beauty.

Always a pleasure to welcome you to The Culbone.

We like to keep the kitchen open that little bit later for travelling guests, and locals who have worked late and built up an appetite for our cooking.

See you soon

“Wonderful food and attentive service!”
Reviewed 14 November 2012

We discovered that the Culbone was doing a special Chinese night and as our friends are particularly fond of Chinese cuisine we booked a table for four straight away.

Although we visited on an out of season Tuesday evening, the restaurant was full! Really that says it all, but I will quickly add that the food was super and beautifully presented. Chinese music playing quietly in the background added to the atmosphere, as did the fact that our waitress for the evening was wearing a Chinese brocade jacket - nice little details that so many other places would have missed.

Special mention also for the service, very timely while at the same time pleasantly unhurried.

We look forward to visiting the culbone again!
