Revisited after a 3 year break. Had fish pie which was in a small ramekin, 60% tasteless mash, 40% overcooked salmon/and other unidentifiable fish resulting in complete lack of any sauce. The vegetables : carrot strips (tasteless), 3 baby aubergine slices (roasted or grilled) were dry and bitter tasting, 2 cauliflower florets which were brown on top and looked as if they had been frozen, defrosted and finished under a grill - all tasteless. The sweets were in a different league, very good indeed, which leads me to believe they were bought in (many pubs happily admit to this and I have no problem with that) if this was not the case, then I suggest they let the sweet maker prepare the mains!

We were looking specifically for Kingsdon village and the Inn. We found both about mid-morning in July. After exploring the lovely village, we called at the Inn which, I think, was still closed. However, we went in and spoke to the two men in the kitchen, telling them we were interested in the village and the Inn. Both people were warmly welcoming and they happily made a fresh brew of coffee plus biscuits which we really appreciated. One of our hosts chatted about the village and the history of the Inn. It's a lovely looking building and interior. We left with a good feeling about both places and were sorry we couldn't have stayed longer for lunch or dinner.

Great food . All homemade by excellent chef & his brigade. A picture of this pub should adorn a chocolate box.Thatched roof & roses round the door.
Extremely friendly welcome and first class bedrooms. Five Star for me.

We booked a table here with friends on a Sunday lunch menu. Great straight forward choice. Our guests choose starters & main and all came very promptly and very hot. The presentation was very good and the waiting staff pleasant. The seating area was light and very airy. Would certainly come back here again.

We didn't book and the restaurant was very busy. The food was excellent and although the staff had a lot of customers, we were full of praise for the smooth snd unruffled manner in which they executed their orders. Impressed and will return. Food nicely cooked and presented with care.
In a cosy village setting.
