The steam trains are awesome . Every body is happy . The whole trip took 1hour 10 mins. [one way].It was not overly expensive as all profits go towards the up keep of the trains and stations.

A great trip we went to minehead. A well kept steam railway run by volunteers. Great fo people of all ages . To hear and see the steam train was fantastic we took my dad mother-in-law hubby and the dog and all enjoyed especially as parents hadn't been on a train in over 20 years. This trip isnt cheap but the up keep of this railway is worth the prices.

Well worth doing - great way to see the area, or stop off and explore some of the lovely towns and villages...run by people who really care about the line, trains, stations and passengers. Stations are a delight in themselves even if you do not try the trains - like stepping onto a film set with old tin advertisements for sunlight soap, or farm feeds, and porters trolleys with trunks on the platforms..at Watchet the original fireplace is lit in cooler weather...there were plenty of families as well as 'train enthusiasts', and the carriages are fab, tables, wood doors...ah! if only you could get on a train now and be guaranteed such luxury. Type in Somerset and Dorset Railway online and you will get all the info you need on opening times, etc.

Great experience. Staff on the train and little stations and halts are so nice and helpful. They make a great day even better. Lovely little snack bar on the train. Good value, Downside - Did not like the café on the station at Minehead or the attitude of the male manager that day. Too much joking around and little attention to hygiene put us off our poor expensive food. Other than that it was superb
