Arrived early at the Hunters Lodge (about 10am) as I needed to do some work. I was greeted with a smile and told that my room would be ready at about 1pm but no problem with me sitting in the bar and working, as WiFi is available throughout the bar & accommodation. I was asked if i wanted any tea or coffee, as breakfast was still being served so I could help myself free of charge. This set the scene for a really relaxing and enjoyable two night break.
Throughout my stay the friendly staff could not do enough to make me feel welcome, comfortable and special.
The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable.
On the downside, I was disappointed with a couple of my meals; my chicken wings (on the ribs and wings platter) were overdone and the scampi tails were not really scampi tails but more like those found in the freezer at Iceland. All other meals were first class, but it did just take the edge off what was otherwise a perfect break.
Sitting on the verandah having a beer and looing out over the Somerset Coutryside makes me feel English all over again!

We were greated by staff who were very welcoming when we stayed here for one night on the way to Cornwall. A family of five our room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was great and had a good choice of meals and breakfast was excellent. We have stayed at other local places on previous years but will be booking here again in future and hope to visit for longer next time.

We stayed here for 1 night travelling back from cornwall. It is a very convenient place to stay as it is literally 1 minute off of the A303.

On arrival they made us feel very welcome and as the weather was nice we went out onto the veranda whilst we had a drink. The kids were able to play in the vast play area and see the goats which they absolutely loved.

Our large family suite was very well equipped and clean. It had a large double bed and 2 singles and the beds were so comfortable!! Our room looked over the goats which the kids watched until bedtime. The food there is gorgeous and fully recommend the carvery.

We stayed in a travel lodge going to cornwall i so wish we had booked this going there instead, it topped off a thoroughly enjoyed holiday.

The Dorset Suite perfect for what we needed, large family room with double bed and two single beds. We ate in the restaurant one night and plates were all empty - Really good meal! Even though weather wasn't great, the children were able to enjoy the great play area and look at animals. Ideal location as we were visiting family nearby and just next to A303. Thank you.

Stayed here for two nights for a trip to Longleat (about 35 mins away). The pub itself is very rustic with amazing food, and it was quite convenient that they served food until 9pm as we often ate late. Great puddings as well, not the usual pub grub as it's all locally produced and home made. Staff were all fantastic, very friendly and welcoming, couldn't do enough for you. We were greeted by Phil who was very nice. The room itself was huge, with a lovely 4 poster bed which we weren't expecting. The cleaner came in once during our staff and replenished the drinks we had and replaced our towels. Some of the furnishings are a little out dated but this wasn't an issue. The en suite was a good size with what was basically a double shower. The room was a little dusty which is my only criticism. It is next to a busy road but it is very quiet at night so didn't disturb us at all. Despite being in the country the TV worked very well, with free-view channels, and the wifi was excellent. Loved how you could order a pack lunch as well, which would be very handy for days out and families. Will definitely be returning if I was in the area.

Very large comfortable rooms similar to a Travelodge. Large comfortable beds with firm mattress. Evenings meals are good value for money and tasty. Large and holsom breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. As it's very close to the A303 some road noise can be disturbing
