we were staying in a cottage less than a mile away, usually we find it difficult to find decent pub food at a reasonable price. not so at the hunters lodge, we ate here three nights during our stay and on all occasions the food and service were excellent. great carvery on Friday evening with roasts to die for and plenty on meat. you can go back as many times as you like for more roasts or veg, but the initial portion of meat were so generous we didn't need to return.

Exactly what you need at end visit to Longleat .no fuss no frills with good kids play area to get that last bit of energy used up while the grown ups can have a cuppa or glass of wine to recover! Rooms are good size and our four rooms suited our mix of 4adults and 5 kids admirably . We checked in late and arrived late to the booked restaurant We had a well presented meal ,kids loved it .my tuna steak was a bit dry but that complaint was dealt with brilliantly and had a replacement salmon cooked beautifully .I am always impressed when a complaint is dealt with like this very professional..the desserts were excellent .we all felt the need for the sugar rush and shared an excellent sticky toffee pudding and a great choc brownie .staff were lovely and although the dining room was full of two big parties we were looked after really well.perfect for dining with kids ranging from 7 to 13 . Never felt uncomfortable with the dropped coke and broken key !!!!!! Thankyou .Staff made our stay very pleasant and I would really recommend this place and restaurants most highly

On Sunday the 22nd June .as soon as we went through the door we were greeted by a lovely smiling face.i think her name was Mandy what a lovely young lady all the time we were there she was looking after us.she is asset to your pub.the carvery was on time and another excellent meal my grandchildren ate all theirs as well.when we finished the kids went outside to play in the play area.which is so nice for them.and we can watch them from the decking area with a pint in hand.the sun was shinning what a lovely afternoon

Yet again another triumph for good quality and a good price in what is a very pleasant and relaxing environment and old public house and coaching inn done to perfection

The meals we received were good quality and the Ribs and Wings was the best of the selection followed by the mixed grill which both are a tribute to meat eating and fine food without the messing about some artist chefs now seam to think we all love. Nice to get back to basics and let the food do all of the talking it needs nothing more.

If you want to visit its worth every penny but it is busy even on a Monday evening so if you have a party then best book to avoid disappointment.

If you are travelling we have stayed in the lodge on a number of visits and it is fantastic one of the best hotels in the area and a very reasonable price plus the breakfasts are so good now we live local its a regular treat on a weekend just to call in and have feast to start the day off
