Good traditional pub with a great selection of food and fairly priced. Will go back when in town again. The pint of prawns were fab and the veggie paste with chillie and tomatoes were just right.

High St pubs are can be hit and miss and difficult to judge from the outside. The chalk board menu outside seemed promising so we took a punt. Friendly welcome, a choice of real ales and a varied menu is on offer.
We were told the fresh plaice on the specials menu was higly recommended and so two of us opted for the plaice served crushed potatoes, green beans and lemon and parsley butter. The other two had the steak au poivre served with potatoes and broccoli. It took a little while to come but then we knew it was all freshly cooked to order and very well worth waiting for.
Don't walk past, give it a try.

We ate here twice in 3 days. We went back for a reason. The food was great. Lamb burger and home made chips on day one was fantastic. Fish and Chips on our second visit was awesome. Large portion sizes here. Reasonable prices - £9 for each. Service was first rate. The pub has a great selection of ales - CAMRA members get a discount.

On our second visit we met up with friends with young children for lunch. The staff were accomodating and very friendly.

Would I go there again - yes and I fully intend to.
