We moved to Wincanton last Summer just as The Wagtail opened and since then we have eaten there at least once, and sometimes more, a month. The service is excellent, the staff well trained, polite and attentive without being over the top. We have not had a bad meal there and the menu is excellent value for money. This is important to us as we are retired, on a limited income but like to indulge ourselves and friends on a regular basis. Your manager is a young man who is 'on the ball'. There are many places to eat in our part of Somerset and over the last 17 years we have eaten in most of them. The beauty of The Wagtail is that, not only the good service and food, but such value for money. Thank you. Perhaps you can teach Brewers Fayre the secret of your success!

We stayed at the Travelodge, Wincanton, for two nights so that we could visit "The Great Dorset Steam Fair". Until we arrived, we did not realise that The Wagtail was adjacent to Travelodge so took a chance and went across.

The restaurant was very busy, but the staff immediately took time out to advise that if we were happy to have a drink, a table would be available fairly quickly. We had a drink at the bar and the chap serving, who we later discovered was the assistant Manager, made us very welcome indeed. Within 10 minutes a table was vacant and even though he was busy, he personally cleared and relayed the table of us.

Immediately our very happy smiling waitress, Clare, brought us menus returning to take our meal orders in a very short time without being pushy. We took advantage of the Two for One meal offer and had two very nice "Surf and Turfs" a bottle of wine and a pint of Marsden's finest ale, all for less than £35.00!

We will definitely be returning to The Wagtail next time we are travelling through the area.

Busy pub where the meals appear cheap then they sting you with the drink prices - everything microwaved and the floor was filthy so where the toilets

Ate there when staying at the Travelodge next door..
Food was lovely, atmosphere great, staff friendly and attentive. And, the manager Lindsey was particularly helpful in assisting me with an admin problem. Definitely the best Travelodge and restaurant package in that part of the country.

This is a lovely, inviting pub just off the A303. We went there for a family lunch and although the food was fairly typical of a pub/restaurant, it was nicely presented, hot and tasty. My daughter is very fussy about her steaks and actually cleared her plate saying it was the nicest steak she had ever had. The staff were happy polite and friendly. It was bright and airy inside and we didn't feel like we were all sat on top of each other like you do in some places-there was lots of space between tables.
When we visit relatives in Wincanton or even just driving up the A303, I'm sure that we will visit again.
