We recently stayed at the Royal Oak for 2 nights together with an old friend. The location is ideal for day trips through Exmoor and the small village of Winsford is charming. The inn itself is as delightful inside as outside and the rooms are cosily appointed and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and attentative and the food was very good but large portions. A definite recommend and we would stay again if ever in the area.

Went here for a meal during our family holiday after reading positive reviews. There were 4 adults, 2 dogs and a baby in our party. The staff were very accommodating of our dogs and were helpful in promptly providing a highchair. There was a good, varied menu that catered for all tastes although we felt that the food was of average quality. The one point that we found quite disappointing was that there were no baby changing facilities. After providing a highchair and helping us prepare the baby food, this was quite a surprise. All in all would recommend for adults but not for families with young children.

Went here for a family evening meal on Tuesday 27th August whilst on holiday in the Exmoor Area, there were 14 of us altogether and I would recommend this venue for any one wishing to have an excellent meal with excellent service. With so many different meals ordered I was pleasantly surprised how they managed to serve us all within just a few minutes of each other. There was a wide choice of meals on the menu plus a specials board with several choices. The only meal that I thought was expensive was steak but this is the same in all restaurants these days.

Room Tip: Looks a great place to stay if you are in this area.

Plenty of choice on the menu and reasonably priced, plus an extensive specials board. Food delicious and arrived quickly. Very busy so recommend booking a table. Staff were helpful and attentive. Situated in a pretty village. Worth more than one visit

My partner and I visited this in for some food during a camping trip, although in the middle of no where we wanted to visit after driving past the night before. At first when looking at the menu I thought it was quit expensive ( for our budget) but it was also nice to see a traditional pub classic menu at a more reasonable price as well as more upmarket food, therefore catering for different markets. Both my partner and I opted for the special fish pie, and we were not disappointed. I have never had a fish pie as full as this one. Also with mussels and some amazing mini shallots within it. We were attracted to this inn by the lovely looking outside and thatched roof. It was a traditional pub which I prefer ( even being in my 20's). Will visit again if in the area!!

We stayed just up the road at Karslake Cottage and ventured to this pub for an evening meal. Substantial menu; seemed a little expensive. But when the food arrived the taste was the reason. Great good at the right price. A few local ales on hand and really helpful and friendly staff. Really worth a visit; but were possible Do Book. This little pub get gets busy. Which in itself speaks for the quality of the food.

We first stayed at The Royal Oak 49 years ago as our first holiday together. We were celebrating our 45 wedding anniversary this year and decided it would be great to go back to the lovely village of Winsford. They say never go back, but The Royal Oak certainly didn't disappoint. The new owners are dedicated to giving the best of service and great food. It is so lovely to find the village has not changed with time and the idyllic, peaceful surroundings make for a really relaxing break. The village tea rooms are a must, particularly if you enjoy cream teas they are do die for!!
