We were very pleased with the way we were treated last year when our car broke down ,we said we would call back and stop over for a few days during the Red deer rut this year, when I rang to make booking we were told that the dog was only allowed in bar.We booked at another hotel and made a visit to thank the staff for the previous year and have lunch, we arrived at 2pm ,we were told in no uncertain way (WE ARE CLOSED FOR FOOD) .How can you close in a hotel ,the next thing we will here you are up for sale.We went back to our Hotel for lunch

Visited recently while staying on exmoor with family. Food was very good and what I would call local rather than what a fancy restaurant would class as 'local'. On the menu was exmoor lamb, beef and venison as well as locally sourced rabbit. I opted for rump of lamb and it was top class as was everyone's in my group. Would recommend

The Royal Oak Inn was a fantastic place to stay. The rooms were spacious and clean, the bed was very comfy and the food was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially when due to unforeseen circumstances we needed to stay an extra night. Very impressed!!

We recently stayed at the Royal Oak for 2 nights together with an old friend. The location is ideal for day trips through Exmoor and the small village of Winsford is charming. The inn itself is as delightful inside as outside and the rooms are cosily appointed and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and attentative and the food was very good but large portions. A definite recommend and we would stay again if ever in the area.

Went here for a meal during our family holiday after reading positive reviews. There were 4 adults, 2 dogs and a baby in our party. The staff were very accommodating of our dogs and were helpful in promptly providing a highchair. There was a good, varied menu that catered for all tastes although we felt that the food was of average quality. The one point that we found quite disappointing was that there were no baby changing facilities. After providing a highchair and helping us prepare the baby food, this was quite a surprise. All in all would recommend for adults but not for families with young children.
