Myself and my partner stayed two nights at the Malthouse in April as we were visiting Alton Towers (literally a 5 minute drive away) for two days. Trawled the internet for B&B's and this one stood out head and shoulders above the rest in all the reviews.
When we arrived (tired and aching from a day at the theme park) we were warmly welcomed and shown to the 'African Room'. A good sized en-suite room with lots of nice little touches(especially the biscuits!), spotlessly clean, great view, comfy bed and just a lovely, cosy, homely feel. Also has wifi, which was nice for keeping in touch.
Everyone there makes you feel at home, are willing to stop and chat, give information about what's around and about and make you feel part of the family.
What can i say about the breakfast? Awesome! Beautifully cooked, plenty of it and served by people who obviously enjoy what they do. Didn't have to eat again until tea time.
Plenty of choices for food or a drink in the evenings too, all in walking distance.
Well, could go on for ages about how much we enjoyed our stay but i'll just finish by saying a big thank you to all at the Malthouse for making our stay so enjoyable and if you're looking for a B&B in this area, whether you're going to Alton Towers or just exploring the beautiful countryside, look no further, you will not be disappointed!!!
Thanks again to all at the Malthouse.

I chose The Malthouse B+B after reading their glowing reviews on TripAdvisor. Their hospitality is as great as everyone says. The old buildings are lovely inside & out. There's interesting views in all directions, including fun little knickknacks in the dining room. The food was yummy & plentiful. I particularly appreciated the vegetarian & lighter options.

As a wheelchair user I struggle to find accommodation that is truly accessible. The owners of The Malthouse have done a fantastic job. My well designed room was spacious enough for my wheelie to access all the facilities. The fully accessible wet floor shower felt blissful on tired muscles. I'm still coveting their cosy underfloor heating which quickly dried the floor. My PA had the room above me & was given an extra key so he could easily access my room to assist me whenever I needed help.

The owners are very warm & caring. They're gifted hosts who treat you like welcome friends rather than customers. I've already recommended it to friends & hope to join the growing ranks of repeat visitors. Thanks to you all, I had a wonderful time !

Valerie xxxx

Many thanks, what a wonderful review! It was a pleasure to have two such lovely people staying with us. Looking after guests is easy for us when they are so upbeat and making the most of their stay. We are pleased that the wheelchair accessible room was practical and comfortable and look forward to your next visit.

My girlfriend an I had planned a 2 day break in Alton Towers and this place really made it enjoyable. Upon arriving earlier than the 4pm checking in time we were greeted not with the cold bureaucracy of a hotel but with a friendly warm welcome. The rooms are immaculate and have some of the nicest smelling bed linen I've come across ( meant to ask them what detergent they used but forgot...was that nice though!.) They provided us with a wealth on information about the area and the info booklets in the room really helped with organise our stay. The breakfast side of things can be summed up in one word, hearty. They dont skimp on the food and are happy to lavish you with as much tea and fruit juice as you want

Well after having read the other reviews of this B&B, my husband and I decided to book, and what the other reviewers say is spot on. This really is the most loveliest family run B&B we have ever been to stay at. The whole family (Mum, Dad, Daughter and Son-in-Law) really did make you feel welcome, like old family friends. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the quirky touches like 'Toto' the resident doggy in room 5 tells you they really love this business and want their guests to relax and enjoy their stay. The room we stayed in was a family room, with facilities also for the disabled, ie a wet room. The room was bright, airy and very clean. Although opposite was the rear of the kitchen so the smell of freshly cooking bacon first thing is the morning was enough to get you out of bed!!! The breakfast provided was ample, and freshly cooked, with plenty of extra tea, coffee, juice and toast available should you need it. The B&B is in the middle of Alton village itself and is little more than a mile from the theme park. There are a couple of pubs in the village within very easy walking distance and both had their own quaintness and charm. We can highly recommend the Bulls Head Inn for drinks and relaxing with lovely home cooked food. The peace and serentiy offered by this wonderful family and their B&B is just perfect for winding down from the hectic pace of life, and we cannot wait to get back there ! Thank-you all, and look forward to seeing you all again soon (including Toto )XX

Room Tip: Stay an extra after a visit to Alton Towers.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights last year when we had a summer trip to Alton Towers. Our decision to go was sort of last minute and we couldn't get the B&B we have always used before. Since our stay at the Malthouse this has now become our number 1 choice of where to stay. The location with regards to the park is second to none (in the garden we could hear screams from some of the rides). The food and the staff couldn't be better. We had a problem with our shower which was sorted immediately when reported. Service at breakfast was outstanding and staff couldn't have done anymore to help us. Thank you. Will definately be staying again but not this year due to new baby. There is a reason this place doesn't have a bad review. Great value for money.

Room Tip: Don't look anywhere else.

A truly lovely family ran B&B in the town of Alton, a couple mins drive from the Alton Towers Theme Park, and a couple of mins walk from the towns pubs/facilities.. The welcome was truly friendly, giving us a rundown of places we can go (aside from the obvious park)..
The room was very clean and very well equipped, free wifi and freeview telly being an unexpected bonus :). The teddy to `watch our room whilst we were out` was clearly aimed at the kids who stay but we joined in the tradition :)
Breakfast was fantastic and filled us up :)
The family were really welcoming and gave us tips on our leaving about Chatsworth House (which was stunning).

We will definitely be back.
