We stayed at the Splash Landings Hotel for Fathers' Day weekend. On arrival the check in was swift and after a long drive with two excited children we just wanted to get into the park! We were able to leave the bags and it was just a short walk to the monorail station, we hopped on and within minutes we were in the park. When we got back to the hotel reception had said our bags would be taken to the room. They weren't, but a quick call to reception and this was quickly sorted. The Beachcomber room was clean, although very warm! They did provide a fan which we kept on all night. In the height of summer the temperature may be more of an issue but we slept okay. The kids loved the bunk beds and the nautical theme bubble bath! Luckily we had pre-booked Flambo's buffet restaurant for dinner a few weeks beforehand. We ate at 6.15pm and when I checked in and asked if there was a slightly later time the only other option was 8.45pm! I couldn't fault this restaurant for choice and value. There was a kid's station with cold starters (houmous, pitta strips, carrots etc) and hot food (chicken, pasta, chips, mini toad in the hole, vegetables). The adult's cold starters were great tuna and bean salad and bean sprout salad for example, and hot food selection included roasts, tacos, kebabs (spicy but luckily we like hot food!) and curry. I noticed that the food was restocked regularly, nothing went cold and temperatures of food were seen to be regularly checked. There was plenty for vegetarians and the dessert selection included lots of fresh fruit as well as more waist-busting options! The ice cream factory and chocolate fountain were a real hit with the children! The staff were friendly and attentive. Afterwards there was entertainment in the bar area giving it that holiday feel and the lego mountain play area kept my little boy entertained for hours! The breakfast in Flambos was again great with plenty of choice. Fresh fruit, cereals, hot food, nice seeded bread for toast, cakes and my request for soya milk was sorted quickly by a friendly waitress. We came down early as we wanted to take advantage of the early ride time in the park for hotel guests and glad we did. We were quickly seated about 7.15am and within about 20 minutes a queue was then forming. However staff did work to get people seated as quickly as possible and although the restaurant was busy there were no long queues for food or drinks and everything was always well stocked. Again the check-out was quick and efficient and we were able to leave our bags in the secure lock room so we could head straight to the park. We planned where to go for the early ride time and managed to get several rides with minimal queuing before the park opened to the public. We didn't use the hotel water park just because of not having the time, but we want to return next year to take advantage of this as it looked amazing. All in all a great stay, value for money and made as stress free as possible by efficient staff and perks for guests.

I stayed one night with a friend and her 2 year old daughter as we wanted to enjoy a day at Alton Towers without the hassle of having to drive home after a busy day.

Check-in was straight-forward and as we'd arrived and checked in before 3pm (we arrived about 11am), they kindly arranged to store our bags. As we hadn't pre-booked our park tickets we were expecting to queue and pay at the gate, but were pleased to realise we could purchase our tickets in the hotel.

The monorail to the park was a 2 minute walk which was great, and parking wasn't a problem.

After we'd enjoyed a fun day in the park, we returned to the hotel at approximately 5pm (we'd made a reservation in Flambo's for 5.30pm) and were pleased to find that the hotel had already arranged for our bags to be delivered to our room (big thumbs up!).

We then made our way to the restaurant, and although i'm not a big fan of 'all you can eat' buffet type restaurants (and did think it was a little over-priced), I enjoyed the variety of food in the restaurant and there was always plenty available and it was all hot.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable, although the tv remote had clearly seen better days and I struggled to get it to work. However, considering the small amount of time we spent in our room - it wasn't a real problem.

After tea we got changed and headed up the Ma Garrita's bar for the evening entertainment which was a must with a 2 yr old. She enjoyed the entertainment, games and disco. Drinks seemed reasonably priced and not extortionate like most hotels.

We didn't go into the waterpark as we thought it was over-priced for what was there, although we did enjoy walking around it when we did the skywalk to the Alton Towers hotel for a look around.

We went for breakfast at approximately 9am and although it was the busiest time, we were still seated very quickly and thoroughly enjoyed our 'all you can eat' breakfast. The variety/quality was excellent.

By the time we'd finished breakfast, it was almost time to check-out. Check-out was extremely quick and efficient.

The only thing i found disappointing was that you were only able to benefit from the 'early park entry' if you pre-booked tickets at full price. As a guest of the hotel, I think everyone should be able to benefit from this.

Room Tip: If you want early park entry, ensure you pre-book your tickets.

Dear nikkieg,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor.

We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay in Splash Landings Hotel, and found check-in easy and convenient to purchase your theme park tickets here.

We're pleased you enjoyed all the amenities we have to offer around the Resort, and enjoyed our Monorail service over to the theme park for your visit. We have a range of entertainment in Splash Landings particularly to suit our families, and we're delighted to hear this went down well with yourself and your 2 year old.

When purchasing your hotel stay, you can purchase theme park or waterpark tickets with your booking. This entitles you to two days for the price of one on both, at our discounted online rate, which saves more than using a promotional voucher as well as allowing you to use Early Ride Time in the theme park.

We thank you for visiting, and look forward to seeing you at the Resort again soon.

Best Wishes,

Peter

I spent two nights at the 'Splash Landings' hotel with my husband and two children (1 and 3), in mid June.

From arrival, the staff were attentive and very polite and quickly checked us in. As we arrived at 10am, they kept our luggage in a secure room and said they would take it to our room for 3pm. This seemed like an efficient service. The hotel reception was very child friendly and kept our children entertained whilst we organised ourselves to go and explore Alton Towers/CBeebies Land.

My first tip would be to avoid CBeebies land at any time apart from 9.00 am when it opens early for hotel guests and annual pass holders. We arrived at about 11am and queue times ranged from 20 minutes to 1 hour which is too long to wait with toddlers. The Postman Pat and In the Night Garden rides having the longest wait times. We went on a couple of things with shorter queuing times but saved the other rides till 9.00 am the next morning when we were first on everything and the whole experience was much more pleasurable. We stayed Mon-Wed as well, so am sure weekends would be much busier. As with everything at Alton Towers, CBeebies Land is 'done' really well, but we were a little underwhelmed with what it had to offer and there were very few 'rides' but that is just my opinion. The constant pumping out of CBeebies tunes was good as was the 'Little Explorers' lunch stop which did a good range of food and the sandwich boxes were quite reasonable too at only £3.95. We loved the 'Cloud Cuckoo Land' area of Alton Towers and thought the rides and attractions there were brilliant for small children.

The water park was excellent. Excellent choice of rides and water features for all ages. Our two toddlers loved it and found it hard to leave. Again, great service from staff and attentive lifeguards everywhere. Swim nappies are complimentary (a great idea!!!) and lockers need 2 x £1 coins.

We ate dinner both nights in Flambo's buffet restaurant. After reading some poor reviews about this restaurant we were worried, but we were so impressed. We booked early both nights (5.30pm) so the food was freshly put out and piping hot. The staff were fantastic! Friendly but not overpowering and excellent with small children. The food was varied and tasty. There was something for everyone, even the pickiest of eaters would have had something they liked. I am vegetarian and there was lots of choice for me! The ice cream factory and chocolate fountain meant that we all overindulged a bit, but they were both a great added extra! Adults pay £19.95 and under 3's £1.95 (with drinks), I thought this was really reasonable. I simply cannot fault Flambo's!

Breakfast was included and was also a buffet. My tip is to go as early as possible (not a problem for us with two early risers!!!) as it is much quieter (about 7.15 am!) but fills up quickly, although didn't ever feel 'too' busy. Again, the choice was excellent and there was something for everyone, ranging from breads and pastries to a cooked breakfast with lots of healthy options too. Very impressed!

The hotel generally was great, with good evening entertainment, a small arcades room and a child friendly bar. We loved the Captain Pugwash music in the lift, we thought this was a lovely touch and our children wanted to go up and down in the lift just to hear the music!

As promised, our luggage was in our room when we went up at 3pm ish. The Beachcomber room was fine, we had a family room, a (small) double bed, bunk beds and a travel cot, which was made up with a sheet, which was a nice touch. The 'Nemo' and 'starfish' toiletries were a hit and the children loved these. The room was a little on the small sider 4 people, but as we spent relatively a very short amount of time in the room, it served our purposes. Yes, it was warm like many have stated, but there was a large fan available, which cooled it down quickly. The window only opens a small amount at the top and bottom, but this is good from a safety perspective. There is no fridge in the room, but there is a 'family facilities' room on each floor which houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, microwave and bottle warmer. So I kept my daughters milk in here and just popped down to collect it and heated it up when it was needed.

I would certainly recommend the 'Splash Landings Hotel' to anyone with children, there is so much to keep them entertained. We all left happy but exhausted as we were on the go constantly. The staff are all excellent and have been trained so well in customer service, they are an asset to the hotel. An enjoyable two days had by all!!!

Room Tip: We were quite far away from the reception, lifts and entertainment. A bit further to walk, but lovely and quiet!!

Dear Anna H,

Thank you for taking the time to complete such a detailed review on Trip Advisor. We are sure that your comments will be extremely helpful to any future guests.

We are delighted to read that you and your family thoroughly enjoyed your recent stay at the Splash Landings Hotel. We are pleased that you found the checking in process to run smoothly and that there was plenty to keep your children entertained.

We agree that it's really useful to take advantage of Early Ride Time for CBeebies Land as you can experience the majority of rides and attractions with minimal wait times before the general public enter the Theme Park at 10am. We are glad that you enjoyed visiting the Water Park too, and found our Lifeguards to so attentive and helpful.

It's great that you were impressed with the food quality and options available for both breakfast and your evening meal in Flambos Restaurant. As you mention, it is advisable to book your reservation in advance to guarantee your preferred dining time as it can get quite busy.

For future reference you can request a fridge to be added to your room. They are free of charge but there is a limited number available so we would advise requesting one when making your booking!

Thanks again for your kind comments. We really are glad that you had such a brilliant time. We hope that you and your family return to the Resort in the future.

Best wishes,

We spent 2 nights here mid week to have some quality family time and had a lovely time. The hotel has a Caribbean feel to it and is much more laid back than the other alton towers hotel which I prefer with kids. Our room was on the small side but clean and exactly what we needed as we were out all day. We asked to be in a quiet room and they followed through on this request putting us a fair walk from the main lobby of the hotel at the end of a corridor, room 1459!! Unfortunately the beds were so bad it affected our sleep, but by the second night we were so tired we passed out! They need to address the mattress situation!!!!
The water park was good fun especially for our 3 yr old who had a whale of a time and was pleasantly surprised he could go on every slide except master blaster. The main restaurant in the hotel was always busy and best to book on arrival (for dinner). It serves an all you can eat buffet of foods from around the world. The food was average but we certainly got our money's worth. Breakfast is the same but is included in the price and serves a variety of breakfast options for everyone. We ate one night at the emperors grill at the other hotel and food here was much nicer as cooked to order as opposed to being mass produced. All in all it was a great stay we were sad to leave and could have stayed another night despite the bad mattress, however the cost is expensive we felt especially as you have to pay for tickets to the park and water park on top of that. It doesn't work out cheap but for family fun it was worth it. Would love to go again but would have to save the pennies up first!!!

We just got back from spending a night at the splash landings hotel. We managed to fit Alton Towers in and make use of the splash landings hotel's water park. Both were fab. We have a 3 year old and he thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Alton Towers Ceebeebies land is amazing, we spent a lot of out time in this area, the park is huge so I would advise you visit the park over 2 days and you can get a ticket to return for £9.60 which is very good. Staying at the hotel you can visit the park an hour earlier then it opens to the public.
The water park is great for a couple of hours entertainment for little ones, the facility's in the changing room could be improved. The hair dryers are from the olden days and they have no swimming costume drier or bags to put wet clothes in.
The only disappointment I found was the rooms, as much as they are themed - they looked dated and need a freshen up. The double bed is the worst bed I have ever slept on, at a hotel. The mattress was so hard it was like sleeping on the floor. Me and my partner found we both had very bad backs once getting up which we do not suffer from.
We ate in the Flambo's restaurant which was an amazing tasting buffet and with great staff who work so hard.
