“Santas sleepover 2011”
Reviewed 17 May 2012

We stayed over the last weekend in November for santas sleepover the whole stay was amaZing! We took our twins age 3 and went with my best friends and there twins also. The whole day around the park the aquarium the reindeers the activites and the shuttle bus service was amazing. We had little elf workshops to attend and a 3 course evening meal and breakfast all included. The only thing that let the weekend down was the quality of the splash landing hotel rooms they were in need of a massive revamp and we had holes in our carpet! We have re booked to stay at the Alton towers hotel this year and are very excited to go!

Would recommend it for any family who's children are after a magical Xmas getaway before Christmas ;)

Roll on December 2012 ;) xxx

This was our second visit to the Alton Towers hotel, the first being over 10 years ago and my wife and I still have fond memories of it. So, this was the first time we were visiting with our daughter in tow (3 years old), how did it compare......were we remembering through rose tinted glasses. I am happy to report that no, we were not, the hotel is still as magical now as it was back then....and our daughter loved it. The theming is great, from the fountain outside the front entrance, the reception desk, the ship in the middle of the bar, the magic mirrors in the toilets and the musical lifts. Our daughter was in awe and spent most of the time with her eyes and mouth wide open. Special mention should go to the back area of the hotel, the grounds with the fountain.....this is where our memories are so vivid of our first trip, relaxing in this stunning scenery with a glass of wine........I am glad to report that this area of the hotel is still fantastic. The rooms are spacious and the beds OK. The food in the Emperor restaurant was fantastic and not at all what we were expecting from a theme park hotel. Special mention should also go to ALL of the hotel staff, nothing was too much trouble. The only slight stumbling block is the price......over £200 for a weekend 1 night stay is a little much (although we visited using a 50% off code). But we loved it, our daughter loved it and we will be back!

We arrived on the bank holiday weekend on Sunday 6th May- I had booked 2 joining rooms, for 5 children and 2 adults . We arrived very early, we were given a very warm welcome, by John the greeter - he was fabulous high fiving all the children, set the mood for the rest of the day.
The children were itching to get to the park - which was fabulous , managed to get on most of the rides.

After the park closed we managed to get to see some of the hotel, our bags had been transferred into our rooms,The rooms were fabulous and very spacious, I would say the website does not do them justice, we had rooms overlooking the fountain, we had ducks on our window ledge - faboulous .
The girls loved the lifts and the features in the hotel, unfortunately we did not really get to see much of the hotel in the evening as we went out to eat. Please note you cannot get a taxi in the area, so ne prepared to drive, we were given a quote of £35 for a 3 mile journey !! So drove into the village. However I did notice they had an entertainer on for the younger children.

The bed was comfy and the only thing that kept me awake was the giggling from my addiitonal room - but then it was my daughters birthday party and I was prepared for the shrieks of laughter .

Next morning we had breakfast, which for a buffett area was very good indeed , plenty of choice from fruit , cereal to cooked breakfast in addiiton a very warm greeting from the staff and finally very clean and tidy .

Sadly we had to check out - again the staff were very friendly and welcoming, all looked as if they really enjoy working here.
The children said it was one of the best weekends ever- I am not sure as an adult I would come and stay but for children regardless of age, a super experience . The weekend itself was very costly, but so worth it .

Room Tip: Over looking the fountain, very scenic

I stayed at the Alton towers hotel with my husband and 4yr old . The Staff were excellent, very helpful, and very polite. We werent due to check in til 3pm, so we sat in the dragon bar and had a drink. We realised on inspection of the receipt we had been overcharged for our drinks, the mistake was put right, so no problem. But, unfortunatley it happened again in the restaurant. Nevertheless, the accomodation was lovely, clean, and very cosy. We had a view of the gardens, which was nice to look out on , and very peaceful. We ate at the Secret Garden, the food was nice, but the portion size was a tad bit small.
Our room was a discounted rate, and for the price, i couldnt fault it. I would love to go back and stay at this hotel, the whole experience with the waterpark and themepark, made it a great stay,

We arrived at the hotel on Sunday 6th May. Staff were very welcoming and friendly on arrival. We had to book a restaurant for that night. Rooms are not ready until 3pm. We went to the park for the day, came back and our room was all ready. Nice room. Very spacious. In the evening we went downstairs to the main bar for about 6.30pm. There was children's entertainment on which the kids loved (We took two 3 year olds) Then we went to the steakhouse restaurant. Food was well presented and very tasty! Not the cheapest but you don't really expect any different. The 2nd morning we had breakfast in the hotel, the had a huge variety, full English, Cereal, toast, croissants, you name it. We had to be out by 10am which was fine. We went to the park again for a couple of hours. Then went to splash landings hotel to use the swimming facilities. Brilliant water park. We had a great time. Could have stayed another night. Will be doing it again.

Room Tip: Ask for a themed room if you have children. The pillows are not the best

You can't beat Alton towers for a great family break. They cater for the family and do Christmas fantastically.
If you have kids that love Santa then this is a must trip in the diary.

Our rooms were great, bigger than expected! Special mention has to go to Brad who was our waiter at Flambos, he coped very well! :)
