“Horrible Beds!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2013

the theming of the hotel is absolutely lovely, can't fault it but I couldn't enjoy my day at the theme park the next day due to the severe backache I got from my attempts to sleep in the bed! worst bed i have ever ever slept in. So painful, really has put me off staying there again

We have stayed at the Alton Towers Resort three times previously and stayed in both hotels. We prefer the Alton Towers Hotel to Splash Landings so went for one night over the Easter holidays. At a price of £225 for three adults in one room (B&B included)we were underwhelmed. The room had an additional bed for our son, but all other amenties were set up 2 people - biscuits, towels, toiletries-this was rectified after I visited reception (partly!). The Hotel is very tired and requires a maintenance programme to be put in place - I would not recommend staying here, and if we visit again will stay off site.

We stopped here to celebrate my sons 8th birthday on Good Friday. Found the hotel very good but food pricey. Fantastic for the kids as their is plenty to capture their imagination. Look for online deals before you book and tesco rewards help keep park entry costs down. The theme park covers all ages of children but can be tiring for the younger ones. Make use of the cable cars to jump areas and the monorail to and from the hotels. Found all the staff very helpful and acomodating, nothing too much trouble. Despite the costs for eating well worth the visit for your kids espicially if you can't get to Disneyland. Would return again in the future. It's been 10 years since my last visit and can say that alton towers have moved with the times and kept on top of its game.

We spent two nights at the splash landings hotel in a family room for 4. The room was perfectly suitable for us, it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, Loved the water park. Evening entertainment enjoyable. Disappointed in the food options for the evening, may I suggest a restaurant along the lines of pizza hut, open till 10 with snack sized meal choices.

This is such a disappointment for a theme park hotel. After visiting the great resorts of Disneyland, I was expecting a far greater experience. The hotel is tired and the theming is very mismatched- actually couldn't tell you the main theme line, it is so all over the place. Public spaces are small and cramped for a hotel this size and the 'overly themed' restaurant has the feel of a tacky version of what I'm sure the designer had meant to be something lovely.

The check- in area is dark and cheaply done and actually looks like it was a second thought in the initial design. Staff appear to be friendly and seem to offer a great smile- but that's it- it is an appearance. Beyond the smile and external niceties these staff have no customer service skills and wouldn't understand " looking after the guests every needs" if they tripped over it.

The rooms we a shock! No minibar, bad dated decor, a bathroom I feared would give me some sort of a disease, a bed that was old to say the least and sheets that I would expect from a budget motel. The room amenities were non existent and a TV that would befit the dark ages- lets face it- we are in the modern world and a plasma TV is now expected from even the basic hotel rooms.

The only saving grace was the lovely gardens around the hotel- but let's face it- we don't stay in hotels for park bench.

Travellers beware- if you need to stay in the local area- stay at a local B&B- you will be far happier and safer.

It's no Disneyland people's.

We stayed in this fab hotel last year in one of the themed rooms, we had the sleep over room and WOW what a place.

From the many beds, bean bags and high stools with hairdryers and sweets all ready my girls and friends were in heaven. A nice big plasma on the wall with Xbox Kinect and the mini dance floor was rocking.. We also had the room adjacent to the sleepover room so the kids thought it was great as their room then became a NO ADULT Zone.... Great fun and great way to finish off the day in the park

Also one of the perks of having a themed room is you have your own personal parking space outside very close to the main entrance.

The whole hotel is extremely clean and very friendly staff.

Room Tip: If you dont stay in a themed room maybe ask for one located at the END of the corridor. Obviously ex...
