“quality of food left a bad taste about this hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014

upon arrival, the hotel reminds you of something you'd find in Florida, very inviting with a grand entrance and presented well.
The reception area follows suit with a themed decor, and certainly gets you in the mood for a trip to the theme park.
The room was clean and decor was aimed at families. Amenities were basic; there was a small bathroom with complimentary toiletries. The room also had a kettle with a selection of tea/instant coffee and UHT milk. (bleugh)
The issues came when we went along to dinner and looked at the menu..... frozen burger served with frozen chips for £12, fish and chips also £12 (did not stipulate cod or haddock so presume its a cheap variety of basic white fish)..... i love my food and i am happy to pay a premium providing the quality reflects the price. needless to say i went hungry! breakfast didnt fare much better i noticed the cheap 'Coronet' catering brand everywhere which speaks volumes to me! Such a shame as they have 2 hotels on site and they like to market this one as superior although for me i would not consider returning until they sort the food out.

My wife and I booked 2 nights in the hotel whilst we visited alton towers theme park. The hotel looks impressive, and is far enough away from the main theme park for comfort. The hotel is well appointed and even the standard rooms are genuinely nice. We did not experience any bathroom or cleanliness issues as previous reviews have depicted. The hotelmis clearly geared up for children, however it is just too loud. There is almost no sound proofing.

I have had a much better nights sleep a premier inn. You can literally hear every noise.

The breakfasts are good and offer a great variety of options for all ages, but the meals in the main restaurant are just too expensive, and I took my family out of the park/hotel for evening meals for both nights we stayed.

These hotels offer superb convenience, however you have to weigh up the overall cost first.

Dear begaret,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor.

We're pleased you found the Alton Towers Hotel in a great location, and enjoyed the views our hotel has to offer.

We pride ourselves on all of the exciting extras that make us so different to a Premier Inn. As well as the full cooked breakfast, free parking, great location and beautiful grounds, we also offer fabulous live evening entertainment, which always gets great guest feedback. Our pricing is also in line with other resort hotels.

We're pleased you enjoyed your breakfast with us, however we're sorry to hear your views on our food pricing. We do have various restaurants aimed at all price points, and we're sorry to hear you believe we did not have a restaurant suitable for yourselves.

We thank you for visiting, and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best Wishes,

Peter

We Stayed her for one night and attended the Waterpark on our stay, Staff were so friendly and extremely helpful especially at entertaining the children. Our room was cleaning and nicely decorated with a lovely garden view. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here just slightly let down by the food (Price and quality) although kids loved the Chocolate fountain :-) Would stay again but maybe choose a different restaurant next time... breakfast was lovely though. I would most definitely return.

We had such a disappointing stay at this hotel. We booked an expensive themed room for a birthday celebration but when we opened the door to the room it stunk of paint. Despite opening the windows and turning on the air conditioning, the room still had an overwhelming smell of paint fumes and it was impossible for us to stay there.
Clearly this room should not have been made available to guests so soon after being painted. Also the room should have been properly aired before use.
The manager was very helpful and moved us to another room but it did spoil our stay.

We had a couple of nights in one of the new Moon Voyage Rooms and were very impressed. The hotel is amazing, as is Splash Landings, next door. The staff are brilliant and are really friendly. Everything about both hotels is geared up to be as fantastic as possible, and to keep the kids entertained. It's not cheap, but there's so much going on that it's easy to see where the money goes. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone, and I'm sure we'll be booking again.

Staff at the hotel very nice, had a problem with our room empty bottle of wine and a pair of dirty knickers in draw. Went down to reception with them and the lady on reception got the Manager who was very help full she gave us a 1 night accommodation refund straight away which I was shocked at because it came to £136. Which in turn we used in the restaurants which was very expensive, as was the park food. My only complaint is for what you pay to get into the park, you don't get your money worth my grandchildren went on two rides didn't want to stand 40 minutes to get onto a ride. And like Grandparents alike who don't go on any rides its expensive day.

Dear julie m,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor.

We're sorry to hear of your experience within our hotel, however we're pleased our Guest Relations team were able to resolve instantly to your satisfaction. As one of the top UK attractions, we are popular and can experience queues for our rides. We do work as efficiently as possible to reduce the queues to a minimum, and there are alternatives to reduce queue times within the theme park, such as purchasing Fastrack. Either by using this product, or by joining our main queues would have resulted in a far higher ride count during your visit.

We thank you for visiting, and look forward to welcoming you back to the Resort again soon.

Best Wishes,

Peter
