Ok, so it was a bit pricey and we only stayed one night, but was worth it. The hotel room was great, we had two rooms as there was 8 of us. One room had bunks and the other they provided a cot for us as well as a single bed. Rooms were clean. However the hair dryers in both rooms did not work, but staff came up straight away with a replacement. The first day we arrived early and put our bags in before hitting the park. Getting in an hour early at 9 am really made a difference as we did not have to queue for the popular rides. The monorail was good too. All the rides were great, but the food in the park was very expensive, so take a picnic if you can. As it rained the first day we went back to the hotel early and asked if we could check in early as the kids were soaked. The staff were so helpful and let us have one of the rooms early. We then went to the water park which was also in the deal with the hotel stay, which was also great for the kids. However the water park was in the splash landings hotel and we noticed that this hotel was not as nice. At night the restaurants were extremely child friendly and the food was excellent. There was entertainment for the kids in the form of a magician and a band at night. I would recommend staying here as the staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean. I have seen some negative reviews on here, but you get what you pay for in this resort and do expect to pay slightly higher prices for everything. However, we came away with some lovely memories which are priceless!

We were impressed by a comfortable hotel and staffed by genuine local friendly staff.
Tony the 'greeter' made our elderly parents welcome. We will give this place just three stars - and all for Tony.

But he should be out in charge of the restaurant downstairs then maybe we will give four or five stars.

After being happy with breakfast we all returned for lunch after a visit to the park. Before even getting around to the food order we asked for a bottle of wine and some water and and after four chase ups to the staff and a forty minute wait we were, on a hot day, dying of thirst! Very sad.. we left and drove 12 miles to Leek town.. It was quicker!

Room Tip: Take ear plugs to avoid noisy unregulated door closers.

Stayed for early entry with my family aged 8 and 12.
The room was far too hot. A fan was there but noisy and did nothing for the temperature. Bunk beds were so squeaky with every tiny movement of the kids we moved the mattress onto the floor.
Early entry changed the week before we arrived but no advice of this was given to us at booking, checkin, ticket collection, gates, or in the park. Ended up traipsing to the other side of the park past many staff none of whom mentioned anything, to find the rides we wanted weren't closed. All that was open was cbeebies (kids too old) smiler, and oblivion (kids too small) leaving us with one ride enterprise. No use of barriers to advise closed areas. Not worth the expense of staying. Save your money unless you have extreme rides or very young kids.

Dear lovelymum69,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor, we truly appreciate all comments from our guests.

We're sorry you were disappointed by your stay by finding our rooms hot. We do have a phased refurbishment programme of Alton Towers Hotel and part of this process does include Air Conditioning in all refurbished rooms.

Our Early Ride Time offering is subject to change and would recommend looking on the days leading up to your visit. We post this on our website, on our Hotel Information boards and on the Information Boards inside the theme park. We're sorry to hear you found our August offering not suitable for your family, and we shall pass this onto our development team for review.

We thank you for visiting, and look forward to seeing you on Resort again soon.

Best Wishes,

Peter

We stayed here two nights. We booked two rooms as we had a large party. One of the rooms was not cleaned properly during our stay. The air conditioning did not work. We did complain but were told to fill out the survey on the computer upon leaving. The entertainment at the hotel the children loved. The staff were polite. We stayed at the hotel as we thought it would be easier. It's of no benefit staying at the hotel as the park opens at 9am with hardly any rides open for hotel guests also anyone outside of the hotel who have pre purchased a ticket so needless to say the mono rail was full and we had to walk to the park both days. If I had known that the park opening at 9 to everyone I would have stayed else where and saved a lot of money. For the price of the rooms which were themed it was not worth the money.

Dear fairynuff4313,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor.

We're pleased you found our staff polite and that your children enjoyed our entertainment in our hotels.

We're sorry you were disappointed by your visit, and found the cleanliness did not meet your expectations. We shall pass these onto our team to review.

Staying in our hotels, and by purchasing tickets with your hotel package, you gain Early Ride Time on selected dates. These include certain attractions, which are listed on our website, hotel information boards and on the Information Boards inside our theme park. We would strongly recommend catching the Monorail to our theme park particularly very early in the morning as we have a very high capacity on these trains so queues move quicker than you may expect.

We thank you for visiting, and look forward to seeing you on Resort again soon.

Best Wishes,

Peter

Really enjoyed our stay at Alton towers hotel the room was good value the kids really enjoyed the bunk beds. We really enjoyed getting in to the park at 9am we took full advantage of this getting on smiler twice. The water park was good but it wasn't that clear that there was such a wait for the big slides, to the point that we didn't waste time waiting for them. The kids were disappointed but in the big scheme of our visit it was not too much of a problem. I do wonder if there could be a better system for the big slides to make sure everyone has a go.
The evening entertainment was good. We ate at the secret garden the menu for the children could do with a few more options on it maybe spaghetti bolognese and a mild curry. The food we had was really nice. The staff were very friendly, but the length if time to get served was appalling. We weren't in a hurry but sitting down at 8 and not finishing until 10.25 is too long. Overall it was a really enjoyable visit the children had a fab time.

We went to the Alton Towers Hotel on Wednesday. It was clean and looked nice! and there was a nice outdoor area for kids to play. We stayed in Room 104 and we could hear the loud entertainment until 9:30 which was the only thing stopping the hotel getting 5 stars. Overall, a very good stay which is in a very convenient location!

We stayed at the original Alton Towers Hotel which is still great fun especially for children. One problem they have is not enough parking for hotel guests. Receptionist was efficient and our room was a double with a single bed for a child. These rooms are a little on the cramped side as it is a small double bed and a compact bathroom. Some other rooms have been upgraded to provide an alcove for the childrens beds. They still have the theme rooms but these are expensive. The bar is cosy with a good choice of drinks. Entertainment is laid on for the kids and for the adults later in the evening. We tried the Emperors Grill but found it a bit expensive although the food was okay. The Secret Garden restaurant was excellent with a varied menu. Breakfast is also served here and was most enjoyable but can get extremely busy at certain times. The hotel has a spa for over 16's and looked lovely, didn't have time to use. It is cheaper after 4pm. The grounds are lovely with a fountain, stepping stones and woodland walkway to the park. Always a pleasure to visit.
