Even my 11 year old daughter was impressed with the whole weekend. The place is spotless inside and out. The rooms have the theme running through them. We ate last night in the secret garden and we all had something different and the food was of great standard. The service was excellent and we had our drink and food in no time at all. This morning we had breakfast also in the secret garden restaurant Buffett style. Choice excellent all being topped up fresh all the time and all taste really good except for the sausage. ( not upto the standard of everything else). We had a prob with the TV in our room but that was no major prob as we went away to enjoy ourselves and not to sit and watch TV. All in all a very memorable weekend that we will be doing again.

We have stayed at The Splash Landings hotel for the last 3 years but this year we tried The Alton Towers hotel. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children and have always enjoyed our stay. We usually have a day or 2 at the theme park and a day at the waterpark. Unfortunately after this visit we have decided we will not return to either hotel again. The room overall is fine apart from having a pull out bed for the fourth bed as opposed to having bunk beds previously. We have always dined in Fambos buffet restaurant but this year there was a much reduced choice of food and it wasn't worth the £19.95 each for adults and £10.95 for children. The 2nd night we dined at Secret Garden restaurant and the food was nice but not exceptional. As a guest you can eat or drink in either hotel as well as watch the entertainment in either. Unfortunately the entertainment does not change in either hotel year after year night after night albeit slightly and this is the main reason we will not return. Also some confusion over drinks menu when it came to the milkshakes or Star slush. We asked the difference as was advised one was a milk shake and the other a milk slush. We requested 4 milkshakes as we didn't like the milk slush but ended up with 4 milk slush anyway so feel they shouldn't have both choices on the menu when they are actually the same thing as very misleading! Overall I think anyone staying for the first time will love it (apart from the cost of eating there!) especially if you are wanting to use the Waterpark as it is good. But for returning guests there is nothing to come back for. Would love to try the new accommodation they are building in The Enchanted Forest but don't think there is anything else that would entice us back

We managed to get the last room for the weekend we wanted to stay and I must say what a good decision. Nothing was too much for the staff. We checked in at about 10am, they stored our luggage and we spent the day in the waterpark. Everywhere is clean and the whole place is geared up for children, you feel quite safe allowing them to go and explore. The room was clean and with ample room for four of us - 2 adults and 2 children.

We will definitely be going back.

Room Tip: Book early if you want a themed room - they aren't many off them and they get booked up really q...

me and my hubby booked into splash landings hotel as we have two young children. the decor is bright colours with so much going on. the children loved looking at the water park in side the building. once checked in we was to or room. we went to this hotel in 2006. and nothing has changed. dust glore in the hotel room. beds are small, a bed for 2 adults was the smallest i have ever seen. the children had bunk beds which they loved. room its self was small. no complimentry water. just coffee and tea. 2 packets of biscuits. hair dryer was there shampoo and bodywash. nothing else special. considering we paid £250 a night we expected a bit more 4 or 5 star.
the funnest part was the splash part. beware you must take £2 for the lockers!! we didnt and had to go back and get some money. As well there is a bar. changing rooms are permantely packed full of people. after a while or eyes stung. they have free floats for children too. its open till 8pm.
we booked into the pizza restaurtant as we was told we had to book before hand. we arrived at 9.35 and was refused a seat as they stoped taking people in after this time. we had never been told this! or read it anywhere in the hotel. and told no other restaurant was open in any hotel. disapointed was a understatement we had 2 hungry kids!
was was told to wait till 10pm and they might be able to give us just pizza and chips and garlic bread to go. we had no choice! We waited over half an hour for the dinner.
The next night we booked into the other hotels restaurant the secret garden restaurant which was sooo much better, service wise and food wise. Our friends are vegatrians and didn't have much on offer for them but the chef was able to cook something up. we had breakfast in the same place. The splash landings hotel for breakfast was to crowded and had a very long queue, we was seated fine cutlery was dirty! food is ok .They have a children's section for dinner and breakfast.
All in all I don't think we will stay in Splash Landings again maybe the main hotel its a lot better. You can always visit the Splash side.

As per the title, me and the family come every year - usually around ten of us. We think the whole place is magical and always love it (see previous reviews). We still enjoyed it this time but unfortunately feel I need to report that the quality and choice of food as well as the speed of service in the restaurants has really dropped off and this is why I have dropped them a star.

To expand, usually the Secret Garden restaurant has a constantly changing menu with the seasons. The menu is usually varied with something on there to suit everybodies taste but this time it seemed all a bit "samey". What I meant about the seasons, for example during previous stays when squash is in season they would do things like a butternut squash curry...this time I would have expected to see something with maybe blackberries on the desserts menu but nothing, usual year round fare.

Flambos my god, what a nose dive. Buffet restaurant so obviously catering for the masses but the quality here is usually good. It's not that it was particularly bad this time but I would describe it as pleasant and the choice has been reduced massively. £20.00 per head. is also a rip off for this. I had soup, curry & rice and an ice cream cone for dessert - maybe ten quids worth at best.

Now we come to the staff, what a joke. In every restaurant, every bar and even in every stall across the park they are so bloody slow. There is a definite lack of get up and go and no visible management driving things forward anywhere.

Don't get me wrong they were all pleasant and friendly but the time it took to get drinks and food was shocking. It was almost as if it was intentionally slow. One time in Flambos the waiter took our drinks order when we sat down...we then ate our starter and I had almost finished my main by the time the drinks were brought out - a good 25 minute wait. It's almost like they have to trek over to the AT hotel to get them. This happened more than once. Furthermore we were never asked in any of the restaurants if we would like another drink. 1 is all you get.

It didn't ruin anything and we still love the place but they need to shape it. We will still book to come back next Summer and my wife is bugging me to book for Xmas this year which I'm not sure about but they need to buck up their ideas or will be on the downward spiral.

We have stayed at alton a few times now and I have to say it is always a fantastic experience... This time we had an issue with the dates we booked and I called them up and explained... They sorted it all out for us at no extra cost. When I booked I asked to be out of the way as much as possible and sure enough we got a fantastic room in the perfect place for our family. The room itself was lovely and clean with great tea and coffee selections. The breakfast was brilliant with loads of choice! I have to give credit to all staff from the call centre to the hotel and the theme park xxx all such lovely people xx thanks for making our stay amazing!! Xx

I had booked a one night stay + park tickets for a treat for my sister’s birthday and it was amazing and definitely worth every penny! We stayed over the bank holiday weekend.

We had a family voyager room and it was smashing. We arrived at about 10 and checked in and collected our tickets, and stored our luggage while we went to the park. When we came back from the park we gathered our keys and were happily surprised to find that they had taken our bags to our rooms already! Then when I had booked the stay they'd asked if it was for a special occasion and I said it was for my sisters birthday. They took her name and age, then asked If we wanted any add ons. I said no and thought nothing else of it. Then when we arrived we found she had a certificate wishing her a happy (30th!) birthday! IT was such a sweet touch and I loved it! The room was clean and super adorable with lots of sweet touches. I really loved the steampunk style lighting! The bathroom was modern (apart from the awesome steampunk lights), although only had 2 towels for a family of four which seemed a bit odd. There was a kettle and biccies which were nice after a day in the park and before dinner!

I had booked a table at the Emperor Grill a few days before on recommendation of a co-worker, and I’m glad I did, as looking at the website the day before it appeared to have been fully booked. So I imagine on the day you would have had to go with one of the other restaurants. We had a cocktail before dinner from the dragon bar and it was delicious and chatted while the band played. We then only had a main at the restaurant as we had eaten a lot while in the park. I had the king prawn and salmon skewer and it was delicious! It was beautifully presented and had some very tasty dipping sauces. The prices were pretty standard and definitely worth it! We then didn’t have any pudding but did enquire about the port, but they were out of stock. Which was a shame but no biggie.

They had entertainment on in the evening but we were tired so went straight to bed. The bed was firm but comfortable and I would have slept well apart from my sister’s snoring…
We went down to breakfast about 8:15 and it was pretty busy, but we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. There was a decent amount of choice and it was all tasty and items were replenished quickly once they ran out.

Overall the staff were very friendly (especially the server at the Emperors) and we had a wonderful stay!
The only really niggle I had happened before we got to the hotel, where I had phoned up wanting to add some tickets on for someone who wanted to join us in the park, but not stay. I first called the reservations team and she told me that there was no way to do it and they would have to go to the entrance and get tickets. They also said there was nowhere in the hotel for us to collect fast track tickets so we’d have to get them from the entrance. She also said we couldn’t add another person onto our table at the Emperors. Anyway what she said seemed a bit off, so I called the actual hotel reception just to confirm. The reception lady said there was a ticket office in splash landings and we could order extras tickets/fast track online and collect them there. She then put me through to the restaurant and the chappie was able to alter my booking to 4. I wish I’d caught the name of the first person as she had given me totally incorrect information!

Would 100% recommend the hotel to others and can’t wait to stay again!

Room Tip: Rooms near the entertainment would be quite noisy!
