My partner and I were visiting Alton Towers and decided to stay here the night before.

It was lovely, the staff, the food and the room (room 9) were all perfect.

Would definitely recommend it to anyone and will be staying again :)

Ate here twice during our weekend break to Alton, slightly expensive but well worth the money! Hands down the best meal both of us have ever had!

I have reviewed twice as pub has two listings. To sum up the food was amazing. Lovely restaurant and good service.

The rooms however are terrible. Seriously dated and very dusty. Our tv could only pick up two channels, the free wifi didnt work in our room and the shower door was falling off its hinges. The bathroom was also very dirty with toothpaste marks in the sink and bits all over the floor. Also, no toiletries supplied onlu tiny bit of soap.

The bed squeaked every time you moved and the mattress was very thin so you could feel the springs. Room also smelt musty and there was just no effort gone in. Woild never stay again and whilst I would highly recommend the restaurant I would avoid the rooms.

Fell on our feet with this little gem. Very comfortable family room with clean ensuite. Very friendly staff. Lovely full English breakfast. Great food in the restaurant both nights. Was made to feel extremely welcome. And 5 mins drive to Alton towers. Can't recommend this enough. Will definitely be returning and recommending. Well worth the money. Thank you!

Sunday night so limited choice where to eat in Alton (were staying at a B&B before visiting Alton Towers the next day). Service was really good - lovely staff but the food was nothing special. Very limited vegetarian options - I had mushroom stroganoff with rice and garlic bread which was ok but hardly had any rice and was quite sloppy. My husband had 'pie of the day' which he envisaged having a lovely puffed crust but was rather disappointed when it came out with a thin (1.5mm!) short crust and the pastry wasn't even cooked in the bottom half of the pie. The filling was filling though. Chips which came with his meal, and the kids, were not very nice frozen ones.
It was a nice enough place but shame that the food wasn't of a great standard.
