We booked this direct and was overwhelmed by the warm welcome and lovely cottage that we stayed in (in the grounds of the b&b). We had a perfect stay and hope to return soon. The location was perfect and the owner was full of ideas for places to visit locally. Breakfast was lovely.

I booked this b&b at the very last minute due to being left stranded by another hotel. And I'm so pleased I did. When I arrived at 8pm I received a very warm welcome by Ruth and was shown straight to my room in the cottage.
As it was -4 outside and I hadn't given much notice, the room was quite cold but this was soon fixed when I was shown how to work the fire in the bedroom and underfloor heating in the bathroom. I was also provided slippers, a very cosy dressing gown and 2 hot water bottles.
The bed was huge, comfy and had a proper duvet and blanket.
Extensive toiletries were supplied (not the usual cheap rubbish you can get in hotels). The room was also incredibly peaceful and, although I was a single female travelling alone, I felt safe.
I'm typically a very picky guest and couldn't fault it. I'll definitely be back soon!

We have just had two nights at East Lodge, follow the route on their web page and you can't go wrong. I can't think of anything that was missing. We stayed in the Garden Cottage, it provided everything we needed along with a very big comfortable bed and lot of quiet. All of the facilities in the room you would expect were there along with a variety of teas and coffee and clean, very white towels. The service we had was excellent but never over the top; we can highly reccommned East Lodge.

Room Tip: Book early and talk about any personlal needs.

I have been staying at East Lodge pretty much every week since January 2011. The service, accomodation, location, surrounding countryside and pubs and friendliness have all been outstanding. Staying at East Lodge has made a long term work secondment a pleasant experience whereas staying at a Holiday Inn or Premier Inn would have been a lot less pleasant. I also found that staying outside Burton was a big plus. The breakfasts are to die for!

we stayed at east lodge for new year with our two young children for three nights and very much enjoyed the pampering. Ruth was a lovely host who runs a beautiful b&b which was a much better standard than most hotels we have visited. She had pretty much thought of everything, toiletries in the bathrooms, underfloor heating, super-king sized bed, tea/coffee and biscuits in the room. Hens roaming the garden in the morning and a wonderful cooked breakfast. The only things that would have made it better would be bathrobes, a highchair and a cot for babies, but not a problem if you can bring your own.

nice clean bed and breakfast, It was a very cold night but the room was lovley and warm the host was nice and friendly but we were a little dismayed to be asked what we wanted for breakfast as soon as we arrived as we had just eaten it was difficult to know what we wanted the next morning. the bed was one of the most comfy we have had in a bed and breakfast. the room was to cluttered with nick nacks and there was nowhere to put anything and nowhere to plug the kettle in breakfast was fine with eggs from the owners hens in the garden we only stayed one night and enjoyed our stay but would not want to stay for longer

Thank you for your review which was very positive and your comments will be acted upon to improve the accommodation we offer. Guests are asked what they would like for breakfast the night before because everything is cooked fresh to order the following morning. It is not a difficult choice to make because its either full english or light. Would you prefer to have a breakfast order form place in your room? kind regards Ruth. ps where is your b and b - maybe I can return the pleasure.

You know that you are in for a treat as you approach East Lodge because the surrounding countryside is wonderful. The house is situated next to the garden centre so it is easy to locate. We had the warmest of greatings and right from start to finish nothing was too much trouble. We had a room with a balcony and we made full use of it in stunning October weather. Even though the actual bedroom was very comfortable my friend and I were offered the use of a 'snug' room with french windows and a wood burner. We had this to ourselves. The breakfast was ample and not overfacing. I would highly recomment this place for a special occassion and hope you get the same weather.
