I've stayed here before and it is a beautiful hotel. Peaceful, comfortable, and excellent service. Very reasonably priced, and ideally located just off the A38. The staff are friendly and helpful, and can't do enough for you. The cooked English breakfast was really good and served piping hot.

We visited this venue off the back of a purchased Groupon voucher.
From entering the hall it was disappointing to see that their were shabby elements to the decor, curtains missing from windows where their were fittings, exposed energy saving lightbulbs with not lamp shades, I'm general a very tired unenviting reception area.
With the weather being nice it would have been nice to sit outside. We asked if we could do that, no attempt was made to put up the parasols and make it a pleasant experience whilst waiting for the meal to be served.
On serving the started it was accompanied with a side salad which was brown and had a large fly crawling on the plate under the food. This was very off putting and when outlined to the waiter he just said the chief sent his apploigies. The glasses and table wear were dirty and had the be removed.
Coffee and tea were offered at the end of the meal to which we accepted but the tea never arrived.
In review of this establishment it was very disappointing and embarrassing for me as I was taking a friend to dinner. The service was slack with no attention to detail. The food was substandard from its claims to have a credible chief, Frankie and Benny's were on the same par for the offered meat balls and mash. Very poor quality food in surroundings that needed smartening up to justify their claims

Dear Claire S

I do apologise for Dovecliff Hall not reaching your expectations. I am sorry if service and quailty standards had not been met on this day. I have held discussions with my restaurant manager and Head Chef so that we can ensure that this never happens again.

Please email me direct so that we can discuss further:- stuart@dovecliffhallhotel.co.uk

Planning a 44th anniversary surprise "afternoon tea" for a couple with lots & lots of friends is difficult to organise and hard to keep quiet, but with the help of the hotel events manager Sarah, the afternoon was well planned and the "tea" became real celebration of a long and happy marriage. Lots of the friends hadn't seen each other for a long time and many needed help around the hotel. All these potential difficulties were overcome by a splendid team of staff members who really made it all seamless. Many of us stayed the night at the hotel and had a great time. The hotel is perfectly situated for a gathering of people from across the country and the catering was fantastic. Full Marks to everyone.

Room Tip: Stay in the "lodge" and get a great view across the river Dove.

This is a fantastic wedding venue- small enough to make it personal and special, and large enough to accommodate the right number of guests.
Food was just right, Sarah as the wedding coordinator provided great support to make things run smoothly.
Only reason to not give full marks was running out of draught lager!
Thankyou to all for adding to such a memorable weekend.

Dear Mike 1902

Thank you for your great feedback.

Alas I note your comment regarding draught lager, on that particular evening my cellar cooler was in need of a technician as it was under performing. Suffice to say on the Monday after -this was corrected, but sorry that this had to happen on this particular evening.

We hope to welcome you back in the future.

Kind regards

Just returned from an amazing wedding here. Beautiful house and setting. Food was fantastic. The accommodation needs serious tlc though. It's borderline grotty. The house and gardens alike need some money spending on them as starting to look tatty in parts. In saying this I would return.

Dear chateausaint

Thank you for your recent feedback.

I would like to point out that I feel that you have been a little harsh with the term grotty. All bedrooms are of a good standard, some are in need of some refurbishment which will be completed over the coming months.

I have a full time gardener at Dovecliff who I believe is doing a great job, I do agree some areas need some work but as you can imagine gardens are a 365 day a year job to keep under control.

Kind regards

We chose the Dovecliff Hall Hotel for our wedding in March 2014. The lead up to the day was dealt with in the most professional way by the team at the hotel. Once we had the basics sorted - date, numbers, entertainment, menus and the timings for the day, it was plain sailing. We were allowed to put our own ideas for the details around decoration, music and order of events with the utmost support from the hotel. All of our ideas were well received with a definite "can do" attitude from everyone at the Dovecliff. During the run up to the wedding the hotel manager Stuart and events manager Sarah worked closely with us to ensure everything was as we wished. On the day itself we could not fault the staff - everyone from the new starter David, the waiter Miguel and all the rest of the fabulous waiting and bar staff worked flawlessly to make our day truly special. In particular our wedding event manger Sarah was superb. There wasn't a single moment during the day when she wasn't on hand to smooth the running of what was the most perfect wedding we could have imagined. We cannot recommend the hotel highly enough, either on that day or the numerous other occasions we have returned for some beautiful family events. Fabulous staff, fabulous food, fabulous venue - what more can we say?

Room Tip: The Lord Burton suite is well worth the little extra it costs.

My husband and I stayed here for a track day at Donington. It was a lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with spectacular views in all aspects. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to help us when we had left property behind by sending this to us on their day off! The breakfast as stated was tasty and when I asked for beans which were not on the menu the request was accommodated without any issue. Thank you for a lovely stay Dovecliff Hall.
