i stayed here for a weekend and was very happy with the overall standard of this hotel! the price was amazing which included breakfast which was very good quality and varied. It was very easy to find, the staff were always available and very helpful and were always smiling!!!(which is a rare thing these days!). i would recommend this hotel, i was pleasantly surprised by the standard especially for what i paid!! would happily stay there again!

We stayed one night. As a basic Holiday Inn it was acceptable but when we wanted to eat the man on duty seemed determined to recommend every establishment close by apart from the Holiday Inn. We ate at the local Flaming Grill Pub which would be ok for teenagers but was not really a place for two septuagenarians! Back at the Holiday Inn, we got a good night's sleep but the breakfast was a big let-down. Scrambled eggs and sausage is not my idea of an English breakfast. Where's the essential bacon!

Poor option. Will not stay there again. Made a mistake on my internet reservation (2 nights instead of 1) which I freely admitted and they did not work with me at all. I travel alot (50+ nights a year in hotels) and all hotels will help in some way....recently had a issue that i missed my stay at a Marriott and they waived the fee.....took one email and it was done. This hotel three emails and conversation with the manager and nothing was done.

The room was okay and the bed and shower were terrible. Breakfast was good and front desk staff was plesant. Avoid this hotel unless you have no other option.

We checked in from our Honeymoon in Sicily on SATURDAY 16th of JUNE. We had work to do in the area on Saturday night and Sunday at 2pm, moving on to Manchester area for more work on Sunday evening.

Our ipod touch, with ALL our Honeymoon pictures and videos in it, was used at 3am on Sunday morning, in the Holiday Inn Express, Second Avenue, Burton
-on-Trent, my new husband wanted to listen to music to help himself sleep. So he put on his LIME GREEN headphones and had the ipod touch (with its white protective cover) on the mattress on his left side of our bed.
We had a late check out on SUNDAY 17th JUNE at midday.
As we left the room in a rush around 12:45 I said 'good morning' to the cleaner who was just in the room next door to us waiting for us to vacate so that she could clean our room (005).

After our work we drove to Manchester and realised the ipod touch was missing. Knowing where we had left it, we were certain that as soon as we called the hotel they would have it.

We called the hotel around 7-8 pm Sunday evening.

There was no trace of the ipod. The staff searched the room and the used linen waiting to be taken to the 'SUNLIGHT' laundry on monday morning.

In the hope beyond hope that the ipod is still stuck in the room somewhere under the bed or mattress and that someone on here goes to that room....... sigh.....

We will give the ipod as reward if only we can have our Honeymoon pics off it.

We stayed at this hotel while visiting Burton. We booked 'blind' via Hotwire and saved a couple of pounds (it was obvious that this was the hotel we were going to get, so it wasn't a shock).

The hotel is quite a long way from the town centre, but only a few pounds in a cab.

The property is fairly new, and the accomodation modern. We were a couple of hours early, but we were able to check in anyway; the hotel didn't seem very busy.

The room was clean and modern. There was tea & coffee in the room. There was a nice flat-screen TV. Our room had a shower only, no bath.

We did find that the heating went off while we were out (you need to keep a card in the slot for the electrics, so I presume this was why it went off). The room was a little cold when we got back, but the hair drier in the room made for a great makeshift fan-heater. I ran it for 5 minutes and the room warmed up a treat.

The hotel has a bar and restaurant, but we didn't use it.

The only complaint was that the breakfast was packed away too early. We staryed on a bank holiday, meaning breakfast should have been available until 10am. However, when we came down at 9.50, everything had been cleared away (I think the lady got confused, as it was the Tuesday of the Jubilee weekend - Tuesday bank holidays are rare). That said, the lady did bring us some sausages, beans, bread and juice, so we did get something to eat.

The location is a drawback if you want to be close to the town centre, but if you're looking for a motorway stop, this hotel is fine.
