We booked this hotel as we were going to Warwick Castle and Alton Towers over a 3 days. Staff were extremely polite and friendly. When booking in they mentioned that air cooling system wasn't working but we had a window in room so wasn't too bad. We needed an iron and ironing board which was brought up to our room there and then along with the receptionist going out of her way to also help with our bags. Room was clean, fresh & perfect for what we wanted (and the priced we payed). Nice sized bathroom with plenty of towels and hair dryer. Usual free selection of tea/coffee. Breakfast was good and always plenty of it. Perfect for an base if visiting local attractions.

Stayed: August 2014

We stayed here for one night, the staff were very friendly and helpful, paying 3 pound to park my car overnight not sure about that as this was not in the center of town . The room was ok good shower. But and it's a big BUT, the room was way to hot the air con didn't work in our room, went to get a fan but they had non left. It was unbearable I slept on the sofa to be near the window. One of the worst nights sleep every, plus it would seem that every motorbike in burton was outside the hotel racing up and down. I am sure if the weather is cool it would be ok, the air con problem effected everybody not just in our room

Just returned from a family
Party and stayed here. The room was like an oven!! Honestly never been anywhere so warm. A/C was apparently on but nothing was coming out at all. The telephone in the room didn't work so I couldn't call family in the hotel. Breakfast was poor, if you don't like egg you are limited to sausage & beans! Continental breakfast was a much better choice. Would it break the bank to offer bacon? Hash brown? Tomatoes? Black pudding? Choice of eggs? I'll not be returning, especially with a Premier Inn around the corner

May i just say before going any further the staff at this hotel are first class ,Just back after weekend break two of the hottest days of the year entered our room 317 ( bit shabby out dated but clean) and it was like a boiler room put Air con on, well what a laugh I could have blown down a straw harder ,window only opens about 2 inches for safety reasons so had to endure the heat didn't sleep well couldn't leave window open as room backs onto pub car park no fault of hotel but the Air con was , next morning woke to the most awful stench coming from the hand basin in the bathroom a mixture of human waste and rotten eggs had to clean teeth with bottled water no way were we using that sink , informed staff and they said would sort it out , went out for the day and when we came back it was even worse with the heat went back to reception on checking there reports was told some kind of powder had been put down , these drains want cleaning not something to mask smell . The young man on the desk was very helpful and changed are room immediately and although it was still too hot to sleep in it did smell nice . Breakfast what can I say but not good at all, Scrambled eggs sausage and beans for hot option tough if you don't like scrambled eggs or sausage no other choice . cereal yoghurt toast and pastry`s only other option , The saving grace is they have a wonderful ice machine and believe me you need the ice to cool you down in the rooms . Would we stay hear again ? not unless Air con was sorted and breakfast better , would rather pay that little extra for a good breakfast and good Air con in the Premier inn near by. Pity the standard didn't come up to the high standard of there staff who are a credit to the company

Room Tip: Check the sinks for nasty smalls and ask to be moved as it gets worse as the day heats up

Stayed at this hotel while on business, a well known chain and is similar to others, clean rooms and public areas, free WiFi through out the hotel very well received and should be offered throughout the Holiday inn chain. I didn't think the breakfast was up to the standard of other Holiday Inn Express's I have stayed at with 3 Hot offerings horrible scrambled egg (possibly made from powder, that's haw they tasted) Sausages and backed beans.
The nights I stayed were the hottest of the year so far and the room air conditioning was absolutely useless as it only re-circulated warm air, I was on the side of the hotel next to the main road so had very noisy nights as had to have the widow open.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the opposite side of the hotel to the road in case you need to have the window open. The room I had did not have working AC so my room and my colleagues rooms were very Hot.
