“goes that extra mile”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

Stayed here for two nights whilst attending a local festival. The hotel was clean and well presented if a little dated in its decor in places. however the extra touches like choclates on your pillow, complimentry tea and morning paper delivered to your room, freshly cooked chips when we returned from the festival late at night were all nice touches. All the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good and we ate in the grill room one evening which was also reasonably priced and very good. Would definitely reccomend and return to this hotel.

We were looking for somewhere to stay in Burton-on-trent near to the National Beer Museum and this hotel met all our requirements even though some previous reviews had initially put us off. However we were invited to look around one of the lodges and were duly impressed. The room including the ensuite was very large and clean. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and we would certainly stay here again.

This is the second time my wife and I have stayed at this hotel for a w/end. We stayed in room 205 on the ground floor of the hotel lodge which was excellent. Good large room, comfy bed and good facilities. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay especially at breakfast which i have to say was first class. All in all a very pleasant stay at this hotel and i would without hesitation recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: stay at the budget lodge part of the hotel it is worth every penny.

We stayed in the Mary suite ... Whilst a little tired and dated, what this hotel lacks in contemporary style and fixtures and fittings, it makes up for with little touches of excellent service - like the complimentary newspaper of your choice, fresh tea or coffee brought to your room in the morning, and ironing my shirt overnight.
The food in the restaurant was pretty good too.
Just a little investment needed ... I hope they get the business they need to invest.

We visited in February for a night out and returned again for our wedding anniversary. The food was out of this world. The best meal I have had in Burton for a long time. Cant wait to return - and soon.

My husband and I and friends were booked in rooms 205 & 206 'basic lodge' suites. I have to say they were exceptional. I thought they would be very basic but turned out to be completely the opposite. We could not fault it.
The service was extremely efficient and very welcoming. All staff showed professionalism and good manners. The food was very good, though not all available on the menu. This did not matter as there was plenty to choose from and the waitress carried out her duties very efficiently. We will be going back next year .

Room Tip: value for money - the lodge rooms
