we decided as a family to celebrate our sister, niece, cousins 60th by taking her back to her ,playground, the ashby rd area of Burton on Trent so to find the Stanhope Arms was also a Premier inn. So 4 rooms were booked , the beer darden a bonus at the beginning of the recent heatwave. on arrival we were kept waiting for a good thirty minutes to check in, as we,d travelled over 250 miles in the heat and needed the loo this wasnt recieved very well .The notice on the desk suggested that a guest had needed attention but when the receptionist showed she said, sorry I was in a meeting, what? at prime arrival time ,we werent the only ones waiting . that apart the room was its usual Premier standard the restuarant good. due to the heat the guests were offered sheets in stead of duvets and fans in all rooms. saturday we all went to the Bass brewery in the center of Burton about 8 minutes drive, well worth it at around £8 per adult with free drink at the end of the tour.

Room Tip: above the ground floor at the rear of the hotel, busy road at the front

We stayed at this Premier Inn during the May mid-term break as a base to Visit Alton Towers. We had two family rooms, both were very spacious and clean. The Hotel is fairly new and is well kept with friendly and helpful receptionists. We decided to eat Breakfast and Dinner at the affiliated Beefeater on the site which was also quite good.from a quality and value for money. It was 35-40 mins to Alton Towers

Me and my brother stayed here for 3 nights from the 14th June while attending the Download festival and enjoyed our stay.
Our room (No. 32) was nice and clean and well kitted out with a TV, kettle, tea and coffee etc., fan & hairdryer. The beds we're nice and comfortable. I don't know what the previous reviewer meant by noisy because i didn't here noisy guests slamming doors.
The all you can eat breakfast was excellent:-) i didn't have an evening meal as mentioned earlier i was here for Download but it certainly smelt lovely.
The staff were friendly and attentive.
If in the area again i wouldn't hesitate to stay again:-)
A++++

This was a very disappointing stay, we were given a room which was at the top of the stairs so was extremely noisy with people coming in late night and early morning talking loudly and slamming doors etc. The walls are paper thin so we could hear every little sound from our neighbours. There was constant road noise road even with the window closed, the room was very warm but had been supplied with a fan.
My husband explained our poor nights sleep to the receptionist n the morning but no mention then of the guarantee of a good nights sleep or your money back!
We booked breakfast for the following morning in the restaurant next door but sadly the service there was very poor, the staff were very slow and had to be asked to top up the food on the buffet and just to top it all the coffee was cold so avoid if possible.

An odd little building - more like a rabbits warren - but this made it interesting and quirky. The welcome when we arrived, ten of us on a family break, was friendly, warm and welcoming. The service was very good and all staff including the restaurant and cleaners were helpful and cheerful.
A little further than we first thought though to travel to Alton Towers, about 45 minutes, but we all so excited the time travelling passed quickly.
Service in the attached restaurant friendly but rather slow at evening meals times for the food to arrive.
Would stay again.

We stayed in this Premier Inn for three nights and pre-paid for our breakfasts and evening meals using the Meal Deal option on their website. The staff upon arrival were very friendly and helpful and our room was lovely and comfortable. Premier Inn had supplied a large fan to cool the room because the weather was unusually hot! Our first evening meal was great and we both enjoyed it as we did the second evening, but the third was awful. The food was not up to the usual standard and the service was extremely slow even though the restaurant was very quiet. As we had spent to whole day at Donnington Park for the World Superbike Championships we were quite tired and just wanted to eat and then sleep. The slow service spoilt our day which was a shame and they ran out of quite a few options on the menu and we found this irritating as it was a Bank Holiday weekend.The breakfasts were pretty good for the first 2 mornings but the third one was awful. Very slow service and very burnt food. On the whole this Premier Inn was very good and although it's on a main road we couldn't hear traffic noise. We would stay in this Premier Inn again as it's a lovely place to use as a base. The beer garden and high decked veranda were gorgeous especially in the sun!

Hotel good but steer clear of the attached resturant, we used it on the saturday night but they had 4 things unavailable off the menu and no draught pedigree. the food was okay when we chose the alternatives, but would not dine there again. The breakfast was okay.
