“Perfect Wedding Day!!! Thank you!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2012

My new wife and I were married here on 26/8/2012 and all I can say is that it was absolutely perfect!

During the planning stages, all the staff were so helpful and remembered us when we called up. We were then given a full run through of the day ahead by Mark so we both felt very comfortable and prepared for what was bound to be a nervous day!

On the actual day, Steve was there waiting outside for our arrival and guided us through the day at every step and telling us what the next steps were. He ensured the day ran like clockwork! During the meal there were ample staff meaning all meals were out at a similar time and the food was wonderful! Our guests commented all day about how they enjoyed their meals and how generous the portions were. The venue looked amazing and since the refurb of the room has been recently carried out we couldn't ask for more.

We were lucky to have a lovely day so therefore could make full use of the beautiful gardens with spectacular views of the Roaches. This really made the day as people were able to relax outside in the sun.

The evening do was also faultless with staff again making sure we knew what we needed to do and when. The in-house DJ had a great selection of tunes and made for a great atmosphere!

The accommodation was spotlessly clean and although not the cheapest was worth the cost. Our early to bed guests noted how they could still hear no noise from the very loud and boisterous party we were having down stairs.

Overall, I honestly believe that this is the best all round wedding venue in Staffordshire, and I have been to most of them. I think what makes the venue is the fact that your bar and dance floor and all in the same room so you dont end up with your party split between various rooms which happens in lots of other local venues. The staff, venue, gardens and food were wonderful! Highly, highly recommended!!

My best friend got married on Monday 6th August and it was truly a magical day. Make up and nails done by Katie in the salon a fantastic job thank you. The team at the Three Horse shoes were amazing! Steve made sure everything went to plan. The food was delicious. Thank you again I would definitely recommend to any of my friends getting married!

Dropped in here last Saturday night for a spur of the moment overnight stay. Got a great deal on a room with breakfast so hats off to the receptionist for realising that business is business and allowing us to negotiate.
Room was really nice – great big bed, nice furnishings and a great shower – although we got a good deal I would have baulked at paying the rack rate of £126.00
Dinner in the Brasserie was nice. Polite staff with good tempo of service. Food was ok too.
Note to Brasserie - Went for a bottle of ’95 white wine, but wine came without vintage on it. If you are advertising a vintage, you need to provide that vintage……….if you or your vintner can’t supply it then don’t advertise it.
Breakfast was like a version of it’s a knockout. They want it to be a buffet style with food available at the kitchen pass, but hot food wasn’t topped up frequently enough so people were just left waiting…….seemed a bit dis-jointed. When food is available the dishes slot under hot lights with barely enough room to get spoons and tongs in to the dishes. Whole thing needs a re-think really

Overall a good stay for a one nighter – close to the Roaches which we walked on Sunday.

We decided to take our visiting family to the Three Horse Shoes on Sunday 5th August at about 6pm, the food was of a good standard although after being called to collect our food, three meals were Carvery, there were no roast potatoes, I thought the idea of the annoying buzzer was to call you when your meal was 'ready' when we asked if we could have some roasts they brought about 6 from the kitchen.
We had to wait about 10 mins for the roast potatoes to be brought from the kitchen, the guy on the Carvery wasn't bothered in the slightest, neither was he female behind the Carvery.
As for the abrupt older lady behind the bar, snappy was an under statement, so much for customer service.
The young lady serving was the only pleasant member of staff, as for the rest, 'if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen'
To sum up the food was good the staff were rubbish.

Attended wedding here on July 29th. All of the Staff were superb, friendly and organised.
The rooms were lovely, clean and spacious, although my one slight complaint would be the lack of ventilation in some of the first floor rooms and corridors.
The day went without a hitch and the food was exceptional, especially in the evening when guests said it was the "best food" at an evening reception that they had ever had....Breakfast was most enjoyable also and leisurely, with staff being extremely patient with some of the younger children.
Of course the setting is very picturesque, with the Roaches as a back drop..
There is ample car parking also and lovely walks nearby.

Room Tip: Family rooms are spacious.

We stopped off here on the way home for a quick lunch, having passed many times previously and always thinking how nice it looked.

I ordered a sandwich with chips and other half ordered a main which they didn't have, then opted for a lasagne, which they didn't have but then they did!

I didn't think much of the vibrating remote which flashed and vibrated when your food was ready to collect from the counter. I know it might mean extra staff but what's happened to the personal touch? We were able to help ourselves to chips from the carvery counter.

Honestly I wasn't overly impressed. Ok, I had a deli sandwich so you can't really go wrong but there wasn't even any salad garnish and the chips were luke warm. The other half said the lasagne was a little tasteless and agreed that the chips had been under the warmer for too long.

Overall I was expecting a bit more. Shame really.

Having eaten in all parts of the venue in the past and been very satisfied, we were disappointed recently in the Brasserie. The food and service has always been extra special but on this occasion neither was up to standard. The menu has become very ordinary with less choice and not as tasty while the prices have increased. Our family meal proved to be an expensive, tasteless experience. We hope that this was a one-off because we have always thought the Brasserie was a cut above other local restaurants. It certainly was not the case on July 27th. What has happened?
