Always a warm welcome at the blue plate. Lovely staff, always happy to help. Gorgeous ever changing menu. It's like stepping back in time to the 50s. Gorgeous decor with proper tea in proper China. Definatly my favorite place in Leek :)

“It is what it is!”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

For a lovely cup of hot chocolate, sat outside with our dogs, when the winter sun shines through the gap in the buildings opposite in Dog Lane, this is the place in Leek.A friend of mine (from the South) had to try a local dish called lobby,it was a success. The cafe is at the top of the range in the area and the service is always efficient and friendly.

“An excellent little find”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

If you love crepes this is the place. A large menu of sweet and savoury crepes, drinks and cakes. My fave being blue cheese and bacon and Nutella and banana. Not much room inside for sitting in but there are tables outside too, but you can walk around eating crepes so it doesn't really matter. An excellent place.

“Nice place”
Reviewed 25 February 2014

We visited on Saturday lunchtime when we walked past and managed to spot a free table. Like others have said, the cafe is very small but also very warm because of the size. Serves a nice selection of breakfasts, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and crepes - unfortunately a bug bear of mine is serving Nutella instead of proper chocolate and this cafe (like too many others) goes for the lazy option.
We had a jacket potato (good price, although very crispy skin and could have come with a bit of salad) and a ciabatta pizza off the special menu (£4, very tasty), bottle of water, chocolate milkshake (nice and chocolatey but we watched them make it and only a tiny bit of ice cream went in and the milk was warm so the whole drink was served quite warm) and a cappucino cake (good portion, lovely light, moist sponge but only a very vague cappucino taste). Total bill came to just over £11.
There was a steady stream of customers coming in the whole time, some from local businesses which is usually a good sign. Service was friendly too.
Some room for improvement with the food but not a bad lunch and we would return.

“Small and Quirky”
Reviewed 18 February 2014

As a longtime customer of the neighbouring shop, I have been waiting for the opportunity to visit The Blue Plate. It is small, and at lunchtime with both tables taken, we went elsewhere, however returned for afternoon tea later on.
As a group of 5, we took both tables inside and ordered a selection of drinks and cakes. Despite the late hour (the cafe closes at 5 and we were the last customers of the day) there was still a good selection of cakes left, all fresh and with descriptions besides them.
Tea was served to our table in teapots with crocheted cosies, and contrasting cups and saucers. The portions of cake were good, and the Hummingbird cake was very moist and tasty.
It was definitely worth a visit, though the very small size of it means I am unlikely to return unless passing and see a free table, which is a shame really as I was very impressed.
