“Lovely village pub, disappointing visit!!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

We visited the spread this evening and were very disappointed!! We waited a while for my husbands starter & our daughters meal, they forgot my sons chips & they didn't come out until our mains!! Our daughters meal was excellent. We ordered off the light bites & my husbands was certainly a light bite!! The waitress was lovely but not sure whether it was a senior member of staff that brought our starter but she needs 2 attend a customer service course!! Its a long time since we have eaten at the spread but wont be going back in a hurry.

“Dark.tatty and unclean poor quality food”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

Decided to have afternoon lunch for our aniversary what a big mistake.
Had not visited for year's so thought we would give it a try. whole place very dark horrible smell of stale beer from the tatty carpets. The tables and even the menus were filthy. The menu was a poor selection and not that cheap for such a basic selection and when the food arrived which was below average we were plaged by loads of flies even in the heart of the resteraunt.staff not concerned about the flies and even when we reluctantly paid food was spilled all over the floor near the bar area.establishment urgently requires a re vamp and new staff who could keep the place clean. will not be returning any time soon

“A great food pub nr Burton”
Reviewed 4 July 2014 via mobile

Since moving to the area we'd been on the lookout for a great food pub and decided to visit The Spread Eagle for Sunday Lunch last weekend. The food was great and the beer too! The pub has a lovely atmosphere, and is nicely located. We ate inside but the beer garden looked well worth a visit on a hot summer's day. The Sunday menu has all your vintage inn favourites plus roast dinner platters which we opted for. Pub sized portions, plus a choice of tasty desserts :) would definitely recommend.

“Peaceful setting”
Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

Visited with my boyfriend, was my first visit, he had been before and recommended. I wasn't disappointed, it was a glorious sunny day so we sat in the garden which has a lovely setting. Tables are nicely spaced, so you're not on top of other people which I hate. We both ordered the wild boar and chorizo burger, something I don't normally order but as i hadn't had a burger in a long while, it sounded good. Food came in good time even though there was quite a few people for a Tuesday lunch. It was delicious, it came with plenty of big fat chips of which were lovely and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, exactly how a chip should be. Would definitely go back again.

“Poor”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

I usually enjoy coming into the Spread Eagle for a drink and meal but last weekend the experience was not as great!
It took 45minutes to receive our wine, which I then had to go up to a member of staff to see where it was, I could see it was very busy but 45 minutes is a long time to wait.
After the waiter brought us our mains we asked for some fresh cutlery, he did not come back so when we asked the waitress, she threw the cutlery on the table and walked off!
This was disappointing to see as the staff are usually very nice and pleasant.
