We have had some excellent meals there but they are never consistent ,the service is dia and the assistant manageress need a wake up call with how she deals with people.

“Great time”
Reviewed 28 May 2012

Arrived on a very hot, Sunday afternoon with our grandchildren, found a table outside and sat to have a drink, waitress came straight over to us, so didn't have to go into pub, she said there was a 40 minute wait for food, which we understood because it was so busy. Children played in a very safe playground and food was served about 30 minutes later. Good value for money, two for one basis, but you get what you pay for. Very good.

“Cheap & cheerful food and service”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

Seems to focus on price - i.e. two for one, buy one get one free etc. OK food at an OK price. Canal side seating makes a pleasant spot for the summer - but overshadowed by the Power Station Towers... Good for families though

“Utter disgrace”
Reviewed 8 April 2012

Four of our family ate here on the sixth of April 2012 at around 2:30pm. Quite empty so seated ourselves as nobody was there to seat us. Ordered our drinks straight away but took ten minutes to get them. fifteen minutes later we had to go and find the waitress yet again to order our food. When the food arrived it wasn't too bad, apart from the coleslaw (which we were told was freshly made that morning but had a very strange taste.)
During our meal we tried to spot the waitress again to order anthor drink but decided to go to the bar ourselves as it was quicker. Ordered the new J2o drink that is advertised on every table only to find the only bottles were on the shelf so warm, and not chilled as the drinks company suggests.
Probably for the best we didn't want a dessert as fifteen minutes after finishing our meal we were still sitting there waiting for the waitress yet again so decided to go and settle the bill and leave.
Having eaten at the Chetwyn arms the night before, which is also in the Marstons two for one meal pubs, the service, quality of food and over all friendliness of the staff is worlds apart. Would never eat at the Ash tree again.
