Really is a Gem just as others have reviewed. Felt like we were just at a friends house, really friendly people, lovely welcome and really well looked after. Room was lovely and they personally showed us around so that we felt comfortable. Asked us what time we'd like breakfast. We popped out in the evening to come back and find our beds ready for sleep and chocolates left for us. Really nice people and nice place to stay, we'll be back soon.

After visiting Alton Towers, me & my boyfriend decided to treat ourselves to a night in a Hotel as the journey home was 2hours and we were shattered from our long day.
When we arrived we recieved such a warm welcome from Ron, we were given the key and went up to our room to get ready for dinner... we had the four poster room which was absolutely beautiful. Everything was thought of, even down to the fresh milk for the tea & coffee in the fridge. The house has been lovingly restored and you really feel welcomed into their home. We were able to enjoy a drink in the garden & enjoyed a lovely evening meal. After a very good nights rest we went down for breakfast. I have stayed in many hotels as I travel for a living, and must say, this is the best breakfast I have had in a very long time! Ron is very attentive and nothing is too much trouble at all... We were very sad to leave and were waved off by both Ron & Gay, and cannot reccommend this hotel enough! We hope to return again soon.

We had only one night here but it was a very nice place to stay. From the moment we arrived, we were well looked after by the owner, who welcomed us and showed us to our very pleasant room. The whole house seemed to be exceptionally clean, well furnished and extremely well mantained, as were the gardens which unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy. There was a large flat screen tv in our room with Freeview, an excellent mini bar containing both alcoholic and soft drinks and chocolate. It was nice to see the prices were as you would expect to pay in a shop and we were not being ripped off as in most hotel mini bars. The bathroom for our room was large, clean and modern and the facilities all worked fine. We had the full cooked breakfast which was very substantial.

The only downside we had was shortly after leaving we received a phone call claiming that we had only paid for one night (we had only booked for one) although admittedly there was a second phone call a few minutes later apologising for their error.
We had arrived at 2.30pm on the Monday where we were shown around by Gay. Ron was putting milk in our mini bar on arrival. He even asked us as we were leaving (on the Tuesday morning) if we had paid the bill, to which we confirmed it had been done online. Only 30 minutes earlier he had been chatting to us at breakfast telling us he was able to remember exactly how returning guests liked their bacon cooked but was seemingly unable to remember that we had only arrived 16 hours previous.
A quick check of his records would have confimed his mistake and avoided making a call which basically was accusing us of leaving without paying. Please check your facts first - it doesn't leave good impression with your guests. However apart from that I would happily recommend this B and B to anyone.

We have just spent a night at Colton House which really couldn't be bettered as a place to stay! The rooms are comfortable and clean, the garden peaceful and there are many "special touches" like the British Birds book place on the window sill in the dinning room to help guests identify some of the birds you might see in the garden while you eat.
The whole house is fascinating with a mixture of interesting artefacts from around the world...Ron, the owner is incredibly welcoming and interesting...well worth having enough time to spare to talk with him.
We would definitely recommend Colton House to our friends.

We were greeted with a lovely warm welcome by the owner, Ron then taken to our beautiful, tastefully decorated and spacious rooms which were spotlessly clean and tidy. Evening meal was delicious - the vegetables were from the owner's garden. The garden is lovely to sit in or walk around. Some beautiful flowers and trees and 3 ponds. Loved all the artifacts from around the world displayed throughout the house. I would recommend staying here and we will definitely return

We stayed for one night on 11 August. We called in by chance to see if their were rooms available. The bedrooms and everything about the hotel were superb. We'll certainly stay here again if we are in the area.

I stayed at Colton House on a business trip. As soon as you step through the front door this house totally enthralled me.
The rooms are simply fantastic. Very luxurious, well stocked and made me not want to leave.
My room overlooked the gardens...Brilliant views.
I'm sure you can guess by now that I will definitely be returning for a personal visit soon.
The welcome I received was so warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. I even had an email informing me I’d left something behind and Ron returned it to me in the post…Again…Simply Fantastic service. Thank you both for letting me share your home.

We love guests that understand the way we have tried to furnish the house so it retains its charicter and still provides a modern luxurious standard. Thanks for noticing what we are trying to achieve and sharing it on line.
