We went to this pub late in 2011, the food was lovely and the staff were good.

We then went to eat there around three weeks ago. We ordered steak and ale pie with chips and veg. The pie came, had a large dry puff of pastry on the top, inside was a Discusting filling which was like water with the cheapest pieces of fatty beef in and a slight hint of a gravy taste. Not the rich beef and ale sauce as described. The chips were raw and the veg was old like it had been sitting in water all afternoon.
We complained to a member of staff who clearly had not worked there long and did nothing about it.
Will not be returning again, a big disappointment

I really wish we had read some of the reviews on this page before selecting selecting this restaurant for our saturday night meal. Small, expensive and very bland. Out of all five of us not even one rated the food as average but at least the vegetable side order that consisted of nothing other than green and broad beans gave us something to laugh about. The service was ok but nothing wonderful and at least the waitress made the offer of a round of drinks on the house.....As stated above this is a lovely looking restaurant and the service we found as ok....but the quality of food is not even close to that of a cheap and cheerful wetherspoons meal.....to be avoided, you have been warned!

I really like it in here, there are many mixed reviews about the place but I have yet to have a bad meal. Keep up the good work.

Took my family for a meal, having visited this pub a few time before, albeit the last visit was a few years ago.

First impressions were good - the pub is well presented.

Regrettably this did not last long! Really slow service at the bar - even slower serving the food, we had to wait nearly an hour from placing our order. And when the food arrived - very, very ordinary - really dry and appeared as though it had been cooked and left under a warmer for some time ahead of arriving at our table.

None of the staff asked the usual "is everything ok" question, either during the meal, or when we paid - left with the impression they did not care. And when I pointed this out, the response I got was that "they had been too busy behind the bard to come to our table and ask".

Regret to say that there are much much better pace than this to spend your hard earned cash and I recommend that you search for these and avoid The Three Crowns, Stone.
