Stayed for a visit to Drayton manor with the children. The hotel is exactly whats expected, clean spacious rooms and breakfast included. Breakfast is cheap and cheerful, nothing fancy but perfectly adequate. Adding Bacon to the menue would be an improvement and the sausages are low quality, so a better local sausage would have been nice.
The beds are very hard, and the pillows thin and hard (a choice of soft or firm is provided, not much difference though in my opinion) and the sofa bed is extremly uncomfortable for an adult, not much better for the kids. We asked for more pillows which padded it out a little.
Bathrooms great with huge nice showers. Tea and coffee in room, ice and microwave downstairs.
All in all a good stay, just wish beds were more comfortable!

We stayed for 1 night in order to take our 3 year old son to Thomas Land at Drayton Manor. We paid about £80 which I think was good value. The hotel was fully booked and I had inadvertantly booked a smoking room, so watch out when you are booking on line. There was nothing the staff could do as the hotel was full, the room, and the smoking floor was a bit smelly but that wouldnt stop us having a good time.
The breakfast offer is OK, for the size of the hotel, there is plenty of choice of cereals, breads, pastries, yoghurts and for cooked breakfast there was eggs, sausage and toast.
The sofa bed for my little boy was far better than the lumpy one we had in the HIE in Stansted Airport, the bathroom was clean and the shower was powerful.
The local was great, within walking distance of the town, we visited the snowdome which is a good place for children
All in all we had a good time for the money we paid. I would recommend the hotel as a cheaper alternative for people visiting Drayton Manor.

WARNING to anyone with any dietary requirements, the hotel expect you will notify them of this when you book your room, do not expect to have any breakfast if you haven't. I had the choice of grapefruit segments that looked passed their best or an apple or orange, oh or baked beans. The staff during breakfast were not so helpful, they said when I first asked "didn't you tell anyone before now?!" sorry now I did not expect to have to, most hotel breakfast include bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes, an adequate breakfast - sadly not the holiday inn express in tamworth, nope you could have sausage, scrambled eggs and baked beans - hardly an English breakfast. The room was very basic, not particularly clean, the shower door seals growing black grime and the bed runner was covered in crumbs and other peoples hair and fluff. only 3 towels provided for a family of four. I will not be using this chain of budget hotels again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us and sincere apologies for your upset regarding breakfast.

Just to confirm we are not an Holiday Inn, which is a full service hotel where you can get a full English breakfast, but a Holiday inn Express. As stated on our web site, included in your rate is a continental breakfast with three hot options of scrambled eggs, sausage and baked beans, therefore, any dietary needs must be notified prior to arrival to ensure the correct food is available.

It was dissapointing to read you found your room not particulary clean because our Housekeeping team go out of their way to make sure everywhere is spotless but I will investigate why you only had three towels when you were a family of four.

This is well above average for a Holiday Inn Express. The rooms are nicely decorated and are well appointed, as are the bathrooms. Better than many Holiday Inns.

Not a great selection available in the restaurant, but the hotel has no problem with take-away food being delivered (Dominos deliver).

Breakfast is a bit of a bun-fight, but it's included. The hot selection was all available and restocked, unlike in some other HE Express hotels.

Hotel is next door to Snowdome, which has a Starbucks, and is conveniently located for a short drive to Drayton Manor (less than 10 mins).

Rooms at the front of the hotel have a nice view of a lake, complete with geese.

There is plenty of parking, but a small charge is made each time you exit the car park.

Unfortunately during our stay, we were disturbed during the night by constant thudding noises, possibly from another room. This was raised with the manager at reception in the morning, and was not something that we experienced on a previous stay. We may have been unlucky with our room allocation.
